TfV 5e'14 - Feats

Feats in the Tales from Vaxus Campaign Setting are moved from being an optional rule as offered in the 2014 Player's Handbook (page 165) to being a core gameplay component. Utilizing KibblesTasty's revamped list of feats as shown in his book, Kibbles' Compendium of Legends and Legacies and his 5e++ module, feats have been given a revamp for better function and balance, especially in regards to martial characters.

Feats

A feat represents a talent or an area of expertise that gives a character special capabilities. It embodies training, experience, and abilities beyond what a class provides.

At certain levels, your class gives you the Ability Score Improvement feature. You can forgo taking that feature to take a feat of your choice instead from the list provided below. You can take each feat only once, unless the feat's description says otherwise.

You must meet any prerequisite specified in a feat to take that feat. If you ever lose a feat's prerequisite, you can't use that feat until you regain the prerequisite. For example, the Grappler feat requires you to have a Strength of 13 or higher. If your Strength is reduced below 13 somehow—perhaps by a withering curse—you can't benefit from the Grappler feat until your Strength is restored.

Overview

The following table list feats available to all classes upon picking up an Ability Score Increase (ASI) in that class.

You can use the arrows above each column to sort by alphabetical order, as well as the search bar when looking for specific feats. Below is a description of the different categories found in the table.

  • Name. This is the name of the feat listed.
  • Type. Feats are sorted into different types depending on how that feat is primarily used. The different types and their descriptions are as follows:
  • Class. Good for certain classes or class features.
  • Combat Style. Good for certain weapon properties or weapon types (melee/ranged/firearm/thrown).
  • Crafting. Useful for those who use the crafting system.
  • Equipment. Helpful for those who plan to use armor and shields.
  • Martial. Helpful for those looking to enhance their martial skills with active abilities.
  • Spellcasting. Useful for those looking to start spellcasting or enhance their current spells.
  • Supernatural. Though mainly for Draelish and Wildling characters, these feats offer flavorful abilities and spells.
  • Support. Great for those looking for out-of-the-box ideas.
  • Utility. An assortment of options that can be a benefit to any adventurer, whether in or out of combat.
  • Weapon. Rewarding for those who like to use certain weapons.
  • Ability Increase. Known as a half-feat, these feats offer a +1 to the ability scores offered in addition to the feat's ability.
  • Prerequisite. This lists the required conditions you must meet before you are able to qualify for the feat.
