Elemental Circle

The Grand Circle of the magical elements has not been forgotten, even before REAL magic was reintroduced to the world at large. Earth, Fire, Wind, & Water form the Grand Circle, with offshoot elements branching from there and pure unaffiliated Magic being the Center.
Many ancient magical cultures and races worshiped the circle as a whole, but also the individual aspects of it.   The grandest church was built on Atlantis, many many years ago. Made up of five Rings tilted and rotated, with crystal grown between to hold them in place it is a masterwork of magical engineering. The rings themselves look as though they are still frames of one ring settling after being spun. All of them are gold, but each of them shines with the colors associated with one of the elements. The last ring is the ring of magic, and it is the support for all the other rings. The crystal that was grown between the rings is a part of the island where it is located, The Blood of Atlantis. So while the crystal is thin and smooth enough to see through it has a slight purple tinge that will never fade. Not to mention it has magical amplification abilities that no one has been able to replicate.   This is of course the Main church that began to re-spread their gospel around the world when Atlantis resurfaced in 2045. Many of the others follow the traditions set down by the other religions. All of the churches that have spread from the main church tend to focus on one of the Elements over the others, however if it is one of the Outside four then a partner church focusing on it's opposite will also crop up in the same town. But if the church focused o the Central Element, Magic, then none of the others will pop up.

Structure

The Elemental Circle has five main pillars, four of which correspond to the Elements; Fire, Water, Earth, & Air. The last pillar is the pillar of Magic, the believed Center of the Ring of Elements. That pillar's highest Priest/Priestess leads the church, with each of the other pillars highest making up their council. The Magic Pillar is made up of people who in one way or another are connected to all of the Elements, not leaning towards any of them. This is how they provide balance to the ring, by being non biased. To ascend the ranks of the Magic Pillar, one must show a talent in reading mana flow. The more detailed, accurate, & overall well defined one's readings are the closer they are deemed to be to the element of Magic. The High Priest/Priestess of the Elemental Magic, can read with near pinpoint accuracy when something new occurs in the flow of mana, and usually what it could be.
The Rest of the Pillars each have a unique way of finding and determining their Priesthood.
The Fire Pillar determines their Priesthood through exposure to their element in it's purest mana form. Those who are able to regulate their Fire mana flow well enough to stay cool, are inducted. With the most powerful Priest/Priestesses being able to use their inner fire to survive dangerously low temperatures with little to no clothing. Those in the Fire Priesthood are naturally growing, they love exploration and discovery.
The Water Pillar submerges those who wish to join their Priesthood. They believe that those who can genuinely feel the pull of the Element of Water can prove it by allowing to water mana itself to keep them from drowning. It's a difficult process, but most if not all of those who become a part of this Priesthood, are trained in lifeguard skills and water safety. With persistence and training, the most powerful of their Priesthood can submerge themselves like whales, or begin to manifest fins.
The Wind Pillar determines it's Priesthood by Watching the Wind mana within someone. For those with Wind affinity simply breathing collects vast amount of mana, and those truly gifted with Wind affinity can breath gusts of wind far stronger than any normal being. to be inducted into this Priesthood, one must simply keep a kite aloft where no wind blows [inside the temple]. The longer you can keep it flying with your breath and mana alone, the better chance you have of being inducted.
The Earth Pillar is by far the safest to try an enter. to become a memeber of it's Priesthood all one has to do is prove that they know how to grow a plant from a seed, using only their mana to choose the place/soil. With training under the Earth pillar eventually they could grow a tree 10X as fast as usual, or reenvigorate the ground, or even split the earth.

History

The Circle of Elements was 'Born' with the birth of magic, but became a structured spiritual aspect later. It has followed along with human history, often in the background, finding new 'life' or symbology in the placed it was called upon again. Such as the science of Alchemy, the Zodiacs, & numerous others. When magic was reintroduced, this became a major crutch for people to fall back on, aiding in the understanding of the new magics. Regaining it's older role.
