Valenzon Settlement in Tales from the Other Worlds | World Anvil

Valenzon

Long before the Collapse, followers of the Silver Tongued Deceiver found safety away from cities ruled by Premiere loyalists, building the village and template they called Valenzon. Located centrally in the northern Til-Gathien Forest, their commune went unnoticed for millennia.   Three major events led to Valenzon's discovery by the wider world:
  1. The followers of the Deceiver mined below the temple after discovering valuable resources, but they found something deep beneath the surface that frightened them, and the temple was abandoned.
  2. Aneall, the champion of the Mistress of Midnight, aided by Gosric, the Deceiver's champion, used Valenzon's tunnels to set a trap and banish Envy, one of the Ancients. The Mistress's prize relic Dusk, used as bait for Envy, was said to be left behind.
  3. During the time of chaos following the Collapse, a descendant of Gosric and the last champion of the Deceiver again tried to use Valenzon to banish the last Ancient, Betrayal. She was herself betrayed when the Silver Chain followed and killed her.
While they left Aneall's tomb untouched, the Silver Chain captured copious notes, in their fashion. Within a century, rumors of lost treasure and an unclaimed tomb spread.   Since then, countless fortune-seekers and researchers have attempted to relieve Valenzon of its burden. None have succeeded and few survived.   Today Valenzon is under the protection of Clan Drugain, followers of the Great Whiskered One. Though their numbers dwindle, their resolve is absolute.
