Ironsoul Kingdom
Prior to the Event, the dwarves of the Ironsoul Mountains were a kingdom of forced isolation and self-sufficiency. A near-continuous war between the expansionist elf empire to their west lead by House Reyven and the reclusive House Inaris night elves who shared their mountain left the dwarves with a culture built on barricades and defense.
A single day changed their fate. The Event shattered the elf empire, severing House Reyven from their sister house Enric. At the same time, it set the Ironsoul mountains next to a country of strange creatures who, surprisingly, spoke something akin to their language. For a time, the dwarves of the Ironsoul enjoyed venturing onto the surface of the world without fear.
Years into a brutal war, the Ironsoul dwarves welcomed an ally for the first time, and they were greeted in kind. They would soon find that the elves of House Reyven gained eager partners and renewed purpose as well. Old hatreds die hard.
Now, with a continent-wide war approaching its 3rd decade, the Ironsoul kingdom still stands, but only due to ages of defense and ingenuity. However, time is running out. The reluctance of seeking further allies weighs heavy on the king, but there may be no other option.
