Echoing Song

(a.k.a. Rumor, Echo)

Echoing Song, goddess of rumors, is the daughter of the Mistress of Midnight and Silver Tongued Deceiver. She spent much of her early existence in the sanctuary of the Realm of Shadows, mostly at her mother's insistence. Listening with interest to the gossip of the short-lived and mortals alike, she collected their secrets and lies. Eventually, a longing to experience first-hand the tangle of gossip that permeated mortal existence, Rumor left her home and took up residence on the mortal plane.   Due to her apparent late arrival amongst the pantheon and her lack of a home realm, Echoing Song is treated as a young god; a precocious teenager. As this misconception only serves her purpose, Rumor is apt to play the role others expect.   She usually appears as a tall young woman in her 20s with long ash-blonde hair with purple tips to match her distinctive amethyst eyes. Like most gods, she can change her appearance, save the color of her eyes, at will, and does so to great effect. Though in truth, Echoing Song's true form is that of golden gossamer words that spiral as they form, float, and dissipate. While these words are imperceptible to most mortals, they can have a great impact on thoughts and decisions.   The Event was a boon to Rumor. Whereas most of the old-world gods struggled to understand and adapt to what had transpired, Echoing Song embraced it. She has since focused most of her attention on the new world and its engine of misinformation.
