This is Seraphina Hayes reporting from the Shard 2-3 gate at Janis, where the situation has deteriorated from desperate to catastrophic. As you know, the gate at Aethel, the only other portal between our shard and the sanctuary of Shard 3, was critically damaged in an attack last week. Sabotage is suspected, and all eyes are on Shard 1.
Since then, this refugee camp has swelled beyond capacity. It sprawls to the horizon, a sea of desperate faces clinging to hope. The Janis gate has been our lifeline, but it's a lifeline stretched thin, processing only a trickle of refugees daily. To add to the mounting terror, rumors of Shard 1 scout drones sighted near Meridian have ignited panic.
Today, the gate remains sealed. Not a single soul has passed through. The Shard 3 customs office hasn't even opened.
