Nigita

Inner Rim, Paqualis Sector, L8

Population: 55,000 (approximate)
Government: Government Council
Head of Government: Gov. Edward Hothden, Esq.
Capital (and largest city): The Hub

Along the Hydian Way, this system was originally forbidden by the Empire and did not appear on the hyperlanes nor in the BoSS (Bureau of Ships and Services) database. While not exploited under the New Republic, it was allowed to languish until the FIRST ORDER established a secret research station on the world to study its Force Nexus--The Tree. Once its restricted status was lifted after the Battle of Exegol, BoSS opened access to the system, proving both the existence of the hidden (now abandoned city-sized facility) and the Force Nexus.

Wild rumors abound about Nigita. Some say that terrible monsters inhabit the planet and it was quarantined for galactic safety, others argue that the Emperor and the Final Order hid a massive research site here; still others say it was simply a well-hidden pirate base hidden by an inside agent at BoSS. Regardless of the truth, Nigita and The Hub have become a gathering point for mercenaries, ex-rebels, pirates, smugglers, and Force Sensitives around the Galaxy.

In addition to the many free citizens that have migrated to the Hub, its governing council has major representation from two Factions: the Republic Remnant and the Independents. It has representation from various forms of Scum & Villany, underworld organizations fromm throughout the galaxy. Additionally, the Harmonium Council, made up of Force sensitive individuals, was initially viewed with hostile suspicion, but their work in explaining the Force Nexus (see the Nexus of Power book) on the planet has helped make them a valued resource.

Geography

Nigita is a temperate world with dense jungles in the equatorial zone transitioning to mountainous regions at the coasts. Prominent ice caps at the poles with a border of temperate to evergreen treelines in the sub-polar zones. Ice caps are dense ice fields with the visible underlying surface limited to mountain peaks cutting through the glacial plain. The planet also has regions where there is significant geothermal activity and volcanism.

While the vast majority of the planet is unsettled, the planet is the location of numerous small Imperial and First Order Outposts and scientific experiments, largely abandoned. Lack of sufficient satellite surveillance, however, prevents all these sites from being catalogued or investigated.

The only settlement of any significant size is The Hub as the locals refer to it. This is a multi-tiered city built from what was an Imperial Base. Some evidence indicates it was once identified as Inquisitorial Research Base Arbor.

Fauna & Flora

Little about of the original native species of plants & animals on Nigita is known. Whatever the true purpose behind the Imperial Base on the planet, it had a significant impact on the local biosphere. Most local species appear to be influenced either by experimentation, cybernetic augmentation, or even worse, dark side rituals and corruption. While in some cases this is minimal, such as discoloration, altering the circadian rhythms of the species, etc., some have been mutated in both size, aggression, and destructive capabilites. Outside the walls of The Hub, nature is a fearsome adversary not to be taken lightly.

Natural Resources

The Mineral wealth of Nigita is vast. Several rare resources have been located within its dense crust, leading to ever increasing interest by the Corporate Sector. While several small mining ventures are in the expeditionary phase, plans for full scale efforts are underway.

The signifianct forests and jungles could be exploited as a source for exotic hardwoods, if the aggressive local species could be overcome. Those species themselves are also a significant scientific resource for both the historical nature of discovering what terraforming was performed on the planet, as well as what potential biomedical discoveries could be achieved.
