Physical Defenses:
Tuvev Keep was built in the
motte-and-baileystyle and sits on a small peninsula jutting out into Lake Joha beside the East River. The keep itself is three-storeys high but otherwise relatively small, is built from stone, and has a wooden double-door gate for its chief entrance. It sits on a "motte" or raised embankment of packed earth with sloped sides that stands roughly 3 metres above the surrounding ground. A wooden staircase leading directly to the gate is the only convenient way to summount the motte, though the slope is climbable with effort. A 1 metre deep ditch has been dug on the north side of the motte (between the motte and the bailey), though it is not filled with water as it neither connects to the lake nor is it deep enough to be below water level.
The "bailey" is the rest of the peninsula outside of the motte, enclosed by a wooden pallisade 2 metres high that runs from west to east. The pallisade has a wooden double-door gate where the main road leading to the motte's staircase intersects it.
Volunteer non-combatants are currently working to dig a ditch outside the wooden pallisade, and to dig the existing ditch outside the motte deeper. They are also attempting to construct wooden platforms on the bailey-side of the pallisade that are high enough to allow someone standing on one to shoot out at approaching enemies but low enough that they could duck down for cover.
