Aul'Daran Settlements

The settlements of Aul’Daran reflect the kingdom’s hard-won resilience. Most grew where geography offered safety—near rivers, fertile fields, or the gentler fringes of the great forests—forming small but interdependent communities. Villages tend to be modest clusters of farmsteads and workshops, built from timber and old stone repurposed across generations. Towns rise along the kingdom’s major trade routes, serving as waypoints between inland duchies and coastal ports. Though the scars of conflict still linger in abandoned outer districts or reinforced walls, life within these communities is grounded in cooperation and quiet determination.

Architecture across Aul’Daran tells its story: ancient stone foundations from before the plague years, expansions built during periods of recovery, and protective battlements added during the Pale Wars. Folk remain cautious—watching the weather, the borders, and the deep forests—but the rhythm of daily life endures through craft, trade, and the familiar rites of the Twelve Faiths. For all their differences, Aul’Daran’s settlements share a common thread: the belief that the kingdom can be rebuilt, one hearth and one harvest at a time.
