The Court Of Rubies

Introduction

The least magical of the 4 courts, found in the south east, the Court Of Rubies is under a Martial Law, with the current Emperor, Sir Loudreth is an ex-Warlord. His Empress, Lady Gordshire, attempts to reason with her husband regularly on this Martial Law, attempting to return to some sort of regular governance, however her attempts are met with a stonewall. The Courts main jobs are based around farming and mining, with hospitality being the next biggest economy. People after their hard days work do not have the time to feed themselves, so restaurants and food carts are big business. Civil unrest is always a theme in the Court Of Rubies, any event has the ability to tip the balance in either favour. Some say that a civil war is coming, and that the army to participate in that war grows every day.

Cities

Li Be Ba

Li Be Ba is the main city in The Court Of Rubies. It spans the whole corner from the entrance coming from the north (The Court Of Indicolites) to the entrance coming from the West (The Court Of Diamonds). The city embodies everything that The Court is, it thrives on hospitality business and the resources that the farmlands of the Court provide. In the last few years, a wall has been built between Li Be Ba and the rest of the Court. The Royals have stated that this is to make sure that visitors from other courts go through official procedures to get in to the court, and the plan is to extend it down through the Court Of Diamonds as well.

Nee Lan Ja

Nee Lan Ja is the south western city in The Court Of Rubies. It's eastern border meets the sea, and there is a small port at the edge of the city.

Bo Ma

Bo Ma is the South Eastern city in the Court Of Rubies. It's south eastern corner is split up by the cities main Farming Villages, which can mean that moving resources around the city is extremely slow.

Farming Villages

Farming Villages are placed strategically throughout the court, and are used to provide to each of the cities in the Court.

Inhabitants - Player Character Races

Humans

Humans are the main race in the Court Of Rubies. Most of the Farming Villages are run by Humans, with other races as workers. All of the Royals are Humans.

Orcs and Half-Orcs

Orcs and Half-Orcs are the working-man grunt race of The Court Of Rubies. None of them are enslaved and many often leave to The Court Of Diamonds to take part in the monasteries, but many enjoy the life of working the fields and will live and die this way. Orc and Half-Orc children are treated the same in terms of schooling, and in the last 100 years, some of the Half-Orc families have inherited Farming Villages, which are running as efficiently as the Humans.

Kobolds

In the South Western corner of the Court, in the Hills, there are a few tribes of Kobolds, hiding in ex-Kenku/Aarakocra nesting areas/caves. They don't venture outside of the hills, but if you decide to venture from the Court Of Rubies to the The Court Of Diamonds, you might just find yourself entangled with some Kobolds.

Goblins

Goblins tend to hide in caves and away from most of the other races. They are very hostile and tend to hunt local wildlife. If you're out travelling, the Goblins may consider you that wildlife depending on how risky you look to engage.

Gnomes and Halflings

Somewhere, deep in the south-western forest, there is said to be a tribe of Gnomes and Halflings. Not much is known about them, but there have been sightings of them hunting local fauna and picking berries. Typically when they are seen, they run away immediately. Maybe some day a brave gnome will leave and explore the rest of the court.
