Taki Firma

Created by

Taki Firma is a high-magic world, but with limited technology. Carts are pulled by ropes and animals, crank shafts and water wheels are about as powerful as the technology gets.
Taki Firma is split into 4 Courts. Each Court is ruled by a Royal Family, which consists of an Emperor, an Empress, a Fool, and a High Priestess.
The Court Of Rubies; The least magical of the 4 courts, found in the south east, the Court Of Rubies is under a Martial Law, with the current Emperor, Sir Loudreth is an ex-Warlord. His Empress, Lady Gordshire, attempts to reason with her husband regularly on this Martial Law, attempting to return to some sort of regular governance, however her attempts are met with a stonewall. The Courts main jobs are based around farming and mining, with hospitality being the next biggest economy. People after their hard days work do not have the time to feed themselves, so restaurants and food carts are big business. Civil unrest is always a theme in the Court Of Rubies, any event has the ability to tip the balance in either favour. Some say that a civil war is coming, and that the army to participate in that war grows every day.
The Court Of Indicolites; The North Eastern court is the Court Of Indicolites. It is a set of large islands, each crowned with their own names. Water magic and storm control thrives throughout the lands, even basic fishermen are able to control the sea in their favour, which makes their large fishing trade even more fruitful. All of the other courts source their fish directly from the Court Of Indicolites. The incumbent Empress bought her way into power, through many efficient trades and her way with people. Everyone in the Court Of Indicolites sings Empress Arlynn's praises, nobody has a bad word to say about her. Word in the other Courts is she is an ensorcellating temptress, and that the whole Court is under her spell, wrapped around her finger. Spy organisations from other courts wish to infiltrate the court and take down her incestuous organisation, but all that have attempted, have suddenly lost contact and not met any rendezvous after the first few weeks.
The Court Of Diamonds; The South West Court is known as the pious region, with much of the space within the court being taken up by monasteries, churches and the suchlike. It is expected for anyone religious to make a pilgrimage to the largest monastery or church in the Court Of Diamonds and serve at it for a significant period of time. The current Emperor, Kettle Splash, is a wise old sage who served in his monastery for over 30 years, working his way through the ranks before being chosen as the courts Emperor. The Courts main trade is clergy wisdom, writing hundreds of journals in a year that are copied and sent out through the courts in order to fund the maintenance of the religious buildings. The court is plagued by lost spirits that need returning to The Wheel, and some say there have been reports of dead crawling out of the ground.
The Court Of Topaz; The North Western court is the most technologically advanced court, with them managing to create rail tracks, with carts that go from the top of large hills all the way to the bottom, with a slowing mechanism at the end. They still have to pull the carts back up (at the moment) - but this advancement is far beyond what any other court has managed so far. The Emperor, Lord Hao'Feng, is revered as having one of the most advanced minds in the 4 Courts, and often skips important meetings with the leaders of the other Courts, out working with his people to progress the court and its efficiency. His Empress, Lady Shao'Min, has spent years working on their relationship with the other courts, and can often be found squirreled away researching how diplomacy has been handled for many years, attempting to become a scholar in the field. Some say that all their disruption to the land is causing unrest with the wild spirits, and the recent earthquakes appear to agree with this.
