Lumirai
Commonly found roosting among the mountain peaks and forest canopies of the Silverlight Isles, the Lumirai (sometimes known as Lumen Owls) are a species of large owls. Widely known for their dark plummage and glowing eyes (which many have likened to the night sky), as well as their minor magical abilities, these nocturnal fliers have captured the fascination of many both within the Isles and beyond, despite their rarity.

Domestication
While the Lumirai remain a largely wild species, they have been domesticated in small numbers by the Moon Elves (who consider them to be sacred beasts), with the Great House Elarya in particular being known for training them to be used as mounts and featuring them as their heraldric beast.

Lumirai have faces similar to barn owls, with their most striking feature being their glowing white eyes.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Lumirai are most commonly found within forests and mountains of the Silverlight Isles, though a few have been sighted in certain parts of the Elderwood, as well as the forests of Xuria far to the east.

Lumirai possess an intelligence at least on par with most humanoids.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Like regular owls, Lumirai have extremely keen eyesight and hearing. Unlike regular owls, however, Lumirai are capable of percieving the Aether in living things, and their eyes are said to have a hypnotic effect.
