Luminous Tides

Among the Moon Elves of the Silverlight Isles, the Luminous Tides are a highly anticipated, and eye-catching, event, often regarded as being one of the most beautiful natural phenomena in Taeva. Occurring around the end of the summer season on the night of a full moon, the waters surrounding the Isles come alive with a vibrant, aurora-like display of colour, adding to the already dream-like quality of the atmosphere of the Isles, and drawing in spectators from both within the Isles and beyond. This event also plays a role in one of the most important celebrations of the Moon Elf culture, due to it being a result of the illusion based magics that permeate the Isles, something that has played a major role in shaping the society and culture of the Moon Elves.

Manifestation

The Luminous Tides manifest as aurora-like swirls of blueish-purple colour in the waters around the Silverlight Isles, which glow more brightly whenever the water is disturbed (waves breaking on the shoreline, people/animals wading into the water, etc). This also extends to the water that has soaked into the sands of the shoreline, creating the effect of beaches that light up when someone steps on them. Interestingly, these effects appear to be purely visual, with no other changes to the properties of the water, and don't appear to have any physical effects on anyone coming into contact with the water.

Localization

The Luminous Tides are contained entirely to the waters surrounding the shores of the Silverlight Isles. It's commonly believed by scholars that this may be due to the Isles high levels of Aether (which has been observed to have a strong connection to Illusion magics).
