Arcanist
With the advent of Arcanix technology, the various nations of Taeva experienced a technological revolution that simplified many previous aspects of life, and paved the way for many new advances. However, like any technology that came before it, Arcanix tech doesn't just manifest out of thin air; It requires people to construct, repair, and maintain it same as anything else. These people are known as Arcanists, and they occupy one of the most important professions in modern Taeva.
Career
Qualifications
To qualify for work as an Arcanist, one must be familiar with the workings of Aether, and have a strong knowledge base in mechanical engineering.
Career Progression
Apprentice: All Arcanists start off as an Apprentice to a Senior Arcanist.
Junior Arcanist: At the end of their apprenticeship, which usually lasts 1-2 years, these Apprentices undergo a final exam to advance to the rank of Junior Arcanist, or do another apprenticeship term if they fail to pass.
Senior Arcanist: If a Junior Arcanist wants to advance to the rank of Senior Arcanist, they must have a minimum of 6 years experience in the field, and pass a written exam based on the knowledge required for the position.
Master Arcanist: Finally, to advance to the rank of Master Arcanist, a Senior Arcanist must have a minimum of 10 years experience in their current rank, experience with high-value Arcanix Engineering projects, and a strong character reference from any fellow Arcanists they've worked with, as well as any Apprentices they've trained.

Payment & Reimbursement
The average pay for an Arcanist is 60,000 Royals per year, though that amount varies based on position and experience (Entry-level Apprentices usually get 32,000, while Master Artcanists can earn around 100,000).
Other Benefits
Due to the widespread nature of Arcanix technology, Arcanists can expect to build up a strong reputation in the area where they do the majority of their work, and even occasionally rub elbows with some influential people.
Perception
Purpose
Arcanists exist to construct, repair, and maintain the various forms of Arcanix technology in existence.
Social Status
The Arcanist position is highly sought after, especially in places where Arcanix technology is a constant presence.
Demographics
Arcanists are most often recruited from large cities, with close to a third of the total population of many Arcanix using nations following this line of work.
Operations
Tools
Arcanists use various tools for fastening, welding, and patching.
Materials
All Arcanists use various machine parts and metals, and frequently work with Aetherite.
Workplace
Most Arcanists do their work in workshops, which contain all of the tools and materials they need for their tasks, though they are just as likely to do their work on-site.
Provided Services
The services provided by Arcanists include manufacturing Arcanix technology, repairing broken or faulty Arcanix technology, and providing regular, ongoing maintenance to Arcanix technology currently in service.
Dangers & Hazards
Due to the fact that Arcanix technology is powered by Aetherite, which can be very unstable if damaged, there are risks to being an Arcanist. This is why the requirements for advancing in the field are so stringent.
