Alynathyr (AHL-lin-AH-FEER)
Located within the central lands of Caelora, Alynathyr stands as the capital of the High Elf homeland. Being one of the few cities from the time of the Ithyrian Mage Empire to still be standing, Alynathyr holds a place of great respect among both the High Elves and the rest of Elvenkind, especially after the loss of the original Imperial Capital. It's thanks to its connection to one of the greatest empires in Taevas history, as well as its access to whatever knowledge within the city that had survived Ithyrias fall, that has cemmented Alynathyrs place as the greatest city in Caelora, and one of the greatest cities of the Elf Kingdoms.
Demographics
The population of the city of Alynathyr is exclusively Elven, with the overwhelming majority being of High Elf Descent. Among the cities population, the most common occupations include artisans, scholars, and diplomats.
Government
Alynathyr is directly ruled over by the currently reigning King/Queen. All taxes collected within the city are are used to maintain its infrastructure, with the remainder being stored in the treasury.
Defences
Alynathyr is surrounded by a stone wall, which can be manned by armed lookouts during times of conflict. Additionally, records from the time of the Ithyrian Empire claim that the city had a number of Guardians ready to fight alongside the cities defenders, though it's not known how many of these Guardians survived the empires fall, or how to activate any that may have survived.
Industry & Trade
Alynathyr trades extensively with the other cities of Caelora, as well as the Human kingdom of Myrell.
Infrastructure
There are a number of libraries, artisans workshops, and universities within the city, and there's a well maintained network of stone roads running throughout the city, and connecting it with the other settlements of Caelora. Additionally, there exists some working pieces of Aetheric Architecture in the older part of the city, which have been incorporated into the existing infrastructure.
Assets
Alynathyr has a rich repository of arcane knowledge, as well as various facilities for artisanal and armour/weaponsmithing work.
Architecture
The buildings of Alynathyr are constructed from stone with elements of wood and glass, with a graceful aesthetic to many of their structures, especially among the more important structures.
Geography
Alynathyr is surrounded by grassy, slightly hilly plains, with a river running through the area.
Natural Resources
Alynathyr is surrounded by arable land for farming, and fresh water is drawn from the river.
