Vidosious Tonnbrand

A legendary villain of pre-Empire times and the most infamous vampire in the world, greater known than even the Vampire King of Halshafen. This one vampire, a man of surprising foresight and ancient wisdom, is responsible for numerous vile and unholy acts and was responsible for the Rise of the Buried Host.

History

During the Age of Blazing Strife, the legendary vampire villain-necromancer known as Vidosious Tonnbrand stored hordes of undead, secretly buried in various areas around the empire by the tens of thousands in each location. He did this to have available reinforcements should his plans, unlikely as it was, be stopped, for he was a man of foresight and wisdom. And wouldn't you know it, he was defeated before he could rise to ultimate power. He planned to inherit the power of the mythical Dread King of undead legend.   One of his activities during this time, he cast a Halshafen-declared forbidden spell is known as the "Black and Red Woods", which demanded the gruesome sacrifice of three hundred people at the same time, tied to trees with necks cut. It allowed him to destroy a fort containing something he needed.   He ultimately failed. Not thanks to the heroes opposing him, though they did slay him and prevent his plans, but due to the fact that the Dread King of legend was just that; a legend.   But due to his necromantic power, he had created a clone of himself, a perfect replica, which his sentience was transported into when his form was destroyed during his first rise to power. There was the small issue of the clone being human, which he found irritating but that he also anticipated.   He was smart. He knew going after the heroes who killed him and their families would only waste time, effort and resources he could not afford to spend, for he had a new goal: become undead again. But, in retrospect, he saw the numerous flaws and weaknesses a vampire had, despite its benefits. He then sought to become a lich. But not just any lich; a vampire lich, because, theoretically, the downsides to a vampire would be eliminated by the numerous strengths of a lich.   Shortly after his revival, he aided the heroes who would finalize the deed of destroying the ancient enemy of all mortal kind, Vecna, Tonnbrand's long-time nemesis and rival. According to the reports from the heroes, Vecna's spirit was too powerful to leave the material plane and now forever unable to occupy physical form, haunts Perfect Vido Brand in a pseudo-possession.   Once Vidosious had regained his health, strength, power and followers after his initial defeat, he set out to raise his buried undead, an event known as the Rise of the Buried Host which led to another defeat and sparked the re-allowance of churchly armies, which in turn eventually lead to the rise of Severus and Howaardt Truthlight, the Truespoken Dynasty and the beginning of Rule of Madness.   After making it known he had a new name, his vanished from history and has not been seen since. That name was Perfect Vido Brand.
