The interdimensional barrier that keeps otherdimensional influences on
Taeingarnor to a minimum. The Gate has gone through many changes since it was first constructed, having two known versions.
—————————————————————————————————
The First Material Gate
The First Material Gate was created by a complete unknown. Was it a person? An unbelievably powerful group? A since-ruined organization? A lost nation? No mortal knows.
What is known about the First Material Gate is that it was made, fully or partially, using Ozar, of which nothing is known apart from its capacity as a construction material for a metaphysical, interplanar security barrier.
The Second Material Gate
Creation
The Second Material Gate was created by the
Alsmage after the event known as "The Land Without Death", to punish the gods for their harmful compassion towards their mortal worshippers. He took the opportunity to add restrictions on the influence of all otherplanar entities in the world that they had no choice but to follow.
Divine Construction
Back before the Second Material Gate, the gods influenced the construction of their temples in ways including direct designs inspired by their own planar homes, never in their exact likeness, or by whispering sweet designs into the ears of architects when they were peacefully asleep.
When the Second Material Gate was erected, however, new divine-sent inspirations were limited, so the architects of later years took the plans of the divine past and spun their own spin on it.
The later generations of architects continued to do so, which sat quite right with the gods who were proud of their worshippers’ achievements. That’s why some holy men and women are reborn upon death into their faithful service as craftsmen as soon as they leave their mortal world.
