Tunnel tornado
The tunnel tornado is one of the Pristine Prairie's strangest phenomena. Nobody knows when they form like regular tornados, but unlike common tornados, the spots where they can develop are known. And these are the hole to the tobzoshkuh tunnels. There aren't many indications when a tunnel tornado occurs. So far, only a warming air in the hole and around its immediate surroundings on the surface is the only precursor.
Scholars have debated how one could form since the first tunnel tornado was observed. Currently, the leading theory is based on the smaller tunnels found in the ruins of Zantera. Scholars theories that these or similar tunnels can lead deep within the planet, connecting the hot interior and the surface of Tacillia. This connection is enough for the heat when it rises to find a path and can reach the surface through this route. The strength of the tunnel tornado will depend on how hot the originating air is. The other, more far-fetched idea is how tunnel tornados start that during the Rending portals were opened between Tacillia and the elemental plain of fire, and the heat comes from that dimension. So far, there has yet to be a way down to the spots where the tunnel tornados originate. Both theories are just theories at the moment.
Because of the speed these tunnel tornados sweep through the tobzoshkuh tunnel, they pick up a good number of dirt, rubble, and, many times, ancient items, which they deposit on the ground around the hole. These tunnel tornados are the treasure troves of treasure hunters. Some of the more prominent treasure hunter organizations, like H.O.A.R.D., started to map all the tobzoshkuh holes and tunnels and the frequency of the tunnel tornados at each hole to try to figure out a schedule to help them collect all the items the tunnel tornados bring to the surface.
