Ash Armor
What is it?
Contrary to its name, it is not an armor but a vehicle used mainly by the Degraded within the Southern Marshes; although some dealers already sold a few to other places, it is not a sought-after commodity.
What is it made from?
It is made from the aeon ash tree that grows only in the Southern Marshes. It is the only known object unaffected by the temporal vortex.
What is it used for?
It is basically for everything. Its use is based on its size. The smaller ones are used for hunting or when a Degraded travels far. Mid to big size is used for a family to live within. It is hermetically sealed, so they don't fear that a vortex will materialize on them while they are sleeping. The biggest ones are used for community houses and by artisans.
What does it look like?
It looks like a turtle. The easiest way to process the aeon ash is to create straight and banded boards, clamp them together, create two cylindrical beams, and attach them to the base. Then, you have your ash armor. Sometimes, a bigger armor has one or two smaller ones. These are usually attached to the side of the armor. It is a clumsy and slow vehicle, pulled by strong animals, but it still had a profound effect on the Degraded and their surroundings when it spread.
Its impact
Because it gives perfect protection from the temporal vortexes, the Degraded were able to move deep into the swamp, far from everybody. Moving deeper into the marsh also made it more dangerous for those who still hunted them. In the swamp's depths, they could build colonies with community buildings where they could meet with each other without fear. This built up a sense of solidarity among them. They still fear outsiders, but occasionally, they let the Cursed visit them, and a couple of scholars and dealers were also guests of the Degraded.
I'm the closest dealer to the Degraded, but even for me, the ash armor is not worth trading it
