Carcinomus

Junior Mysterios Carcinomus (Formerly Zorus) Felixad Valeer (a.k.a. Young Master Smiles, The Boy Of Death)

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Standing a bit taller than the average Kandia boy and with strikingly dark, lustrous skin and bold blue eyes deep as the lake he was born next to, Carcinomus is a muscular and dextrous boy of twelve who walks with confidence and a sort of casual naivete others might say he'll grow out of if he lives long enough.
Unlike other boys his age he is clearly more experienced than his years would otherwise dictate; possessing light but very real battle scars, calloused hands from years of practice with all manner of weapons and worn feet from marching along the many ranks of soldiers his master had attached them to.
Well groomed and maintained at a glance even under most combat conditions, Carcinomus represents a fearlessness and ease on the battlefield not many experienced soldiers can exhibit, much less a boy not even yet a young teen.

Identifying Characteristics

Along with a few scars that he can be identified by, Carcinomus' primary identifying feature is his stark blue eyes. Regarded as extremely deep when looked into and strikingly bold at any distance as they stand out against his incredibly dark skin, the particularly perceptive are even able to pick him out by them in a crowd.   While extremely dark skin is not unknown or even particularly rare in Kanda Carcinomus is still technically a minority, with most of the complexions of the Kandia being tan to deep caramel in color. This probably won't identify him in any given group of soldiers, as Kanda has an extremely multi-ethnic and cosmopolitan military population but in certain communities this may be used to identify him. He would, for example, be easily differentiated from the average citizen of The Ducky Isles if he happened to be visiting. As with anywhere in the world, one's skin color can be an identifying feature and Carcinomus' skin color happens to be incredibly identifiable.

Special abilities

Even as just a Junior Mysterios of 12, not even yet a man grown, Carcinomus has a comprehensive mastery of many combative forms of magic and has already constructed his "Personal Effect" to match his name. While still incapable of manifesting this particular ability at a distance, Carcinomus has constructed for himself the ability to kill with a touch. While it might not kill instantly, those who have been touched by him in combat simply do not survive, so long as he can touch flesh. This "Touch Of Death" has made his late master the subject of quite a bit of attention, as his abilities far outstrip his age and many believe that his master's tutelage is part of what was responsible.
Provided one doesn't die within minutes from his touch, Carcinomus' Touch will sap the strength and endurance from one's body, gradually forming growths on their skin, bones and even BRAINS! The magically strongest can manage to hold off the full affects of his touch for up to a year but, at that point, have long descended into tumor riddled madness and infirmity. It's more torture than survival at that point.   Beyond his Personal Effect, Carcinomus is heavily studied in combat magic involving latent destruction, countering and strengthening his own body. He is a surprisingly physical Mysterios who largely desires to be on the front lines; catching arrows and returning them explosively to their origins, redirecting incoming fireballs and lightning bolts into groups of the enemy and healing the most desperately injured with special potions he's made that heal the body and bolster the will. Equal Parts close range artillery, combat medic and point defense, Carcinomus has been trained since infancy to make magic his own!   Though he doesn't yet know it Carcinomus Is Bound To The Rafef and, since the arrival of Melody Novus: The Teacher Of Scholars, has unconsciously benefited from its presence and his connection to it. While he and his superiors simply see it as him getting older, stronger, more experienced and more mature (and part of this is true, to some extent!) it simply goes beyond that. His connection with The Rafef isn't merely present but rather apparent to those who know what to look for and he could easily be trained, at this age, to be a very powerful user of The Rafef and its power.

Apparel & Accessories

As any officially recognized Mysterios, even a junior one, Carcinomus almost always wears the signature robes of a Mysterios of Kanda, specifically the deep gray linen and wool of a Mysterios of Kanda's Military; with a sash of crimson accompanying the normally drab robes.   While most Mysteria possess a special implement to help focus their power and assist in combat Carcinomus had not yet gotten to the point in his training where he would make his Focus. Malarian's Scepter passed down to the boy but he isn't yet sure if he is ready to wield the enormous power his Master held for five times the length of Carcinomus' own life.
Instead the Junior Mysterios prefers to paradoxically go into combat unarmed, feeling that the flexibility of having both hands available allows for greater protection and utility on the field when there are already so many swords swinging, maces bashing and arrows flying. Suitably, Carcinomus has grown incredibly capable at catching incoming projectiles out of the air with his bare hands, assisted only by "a little bit of magic." He does not discriminate, either; catching arrows, sling bullets, javelins, swinging swords, darts, axes, knives, sometimes people, grenades, lightning bolts and fireballs and promptly returning them from whence they came with the same casual ease of a man throwing a ball for a dog. For this trick paired with his strict, rule following nature some soldiers affectionately refer to him as "Letanar Bare Hands."
Despite the seemingly derogatory nature of this nickname the soldiers call him this rather affectionately, trying to help thicken his skin and teach him the social constitution of a good soldier. It is all in good fun.

Specialized Equipment

While his master once had donkeys and carts full of all manner of special substances and items, they now fall to Carcinomus!
Despite his young age, Carcinomus is a somewhat capable master of the four donkeys and ten slaves that transport his late master's many tools, jars and other such equipment. The Kensar for The Speakers Of Truth has also taken the liberty of assigning him an apprentice Kensar to maintain stock and inventory totals, that he might be able to better keep the Weialis well stocked with healing supplies.   Carcinomus has a magical set of medical tools gifted to him for his twelfth birthday by his master. The tools themselves are next to sentient; able to read his mind and give him subtle hints at what to do for the tasks he desires while he does them. As the highest ranking medical practitioner on call to attend to The Speakers Of Truth, these tools allow Carcinomus to be a capable surgeon and general medic even in dangerous situations, despite his young age and obvious lack of experience compared to more mature Mysteria. Because of these tools Carcinomus is also able to learn much more easily than without them, having a much higher rate of success and therefor learning the correct way to go about things with less long term error.
Because of his cool head, so long as he is not physically disturbed while he is operating on someone, these tools allow him to be medically employable even in the most high stress scenarios.   On His Eighth Birthday, shortly before he killed his first man, Carcinomus was given a special sleeve of gold and jade which resizes as he grows into it. While seemingly just an extremely ornate piece of artifice, the ivy patterned net of gold around his arm is actually a highly potent magical item that allows him to throw up a magical shield if he needs to. While this shield is not necessarily long lasting, only able to be deployed for a few seconds at a time, it is incredibly potent and can take direct strikes from extremely powerful magic users without breaking. Its re-arming time is also incredibly fast, only requiring a few short seconds to regain its power. When it is armed and ready to use the golden net-sleeve is covered in tiny jade stones lain into the junctions of the metal netting. However, when it is recharging the jade stones melt into the gold, floating back to the surface when re-armed.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Weathering her near ten month pregnancy with grace, the mother of the boy who would come to be known as Carcinomus spent much time on the shores of the lake, communing with the spirits of nature and apparently developing quite the relationship with the great deity of the region, who went by the same name as the lake from which he'd sprung; Vastutos Marnus Lasuk.
In time the great deity grew fond of the woman and the child growing in her belly; stepping forth from the waters of his lake to set foot among the House Of Valeer. After a time of appraising the family he decided to reveal himself, making it clear that he felt a growing affection for both the mother and her unborn child. Speaking to Longar Felix, he confessed that he had no desire to harm the man's faithful relationship, nor to take from him his third son once the boy came into the world.
Instead Vastutos Marnus Lasuk offered to become the boy's godfather and to bless him with the power of The Lake, with the power of Longo Valeer; the name of the region as followed the family that ruled there.   When Carcinomus Was Born Zorus Felixad Valeer on the southern shores of Vastutos Marnus Lasuk it was to great fanfare!
The Boy was seen as a great gift; strong and healthy and loud!
... And Upon His Divine Blessings From The Deity Himself... Brilliantly Blue Eyed!   For his first year the boy had everything taken care of for him!
He played only with the most privileged of children.
He was followed every day by nurses and tutors who swore by various methods to make him smarter, stronger and more coordinated as he grew!
Blessings from all manner of Enthiria came upon him at his father's personal cost.
Special Doctors Imbued His Body With The Force Of Magic!
And, of course, he spent nearly every day in the presence of the great deity that looked upon him with such affection.   However, His parents sought to get him out and to see the rest of the world.
For over a month they sent out letters to all corners of The Empire, seeking to find the perfect person to foster him to. They knew he would have to learn and grow under the perfect example of Kandia duty and responsibily!
He would need only the best of figures to raise him until properly!   Many individuals were considered but eventually, just after his first birthday, Zorus had his destiny chosen for him!
The foster parent in question would be Malarian The Deft; a well known and even more well traveled Mysterios in his mid-seventies who had seen six decades of combat on the front lines of Kanda's many wars. Now not nearly as busy since the beginning of the New Age Of Peace, Malarian begrudgingly took on the boy at barely older than a year old; becoming the closest thing Carcinomus ever had to a father as they traveled around Kanda, hiring special tutors and acquainting him with magic and the politics of the empire at large.   The next eleven years, to Carcinomus, must have seemed normal due to his lack of interaction with other children; a constant, rigorous, intense training regiment from the moment he could walk to the present. When they were not traveling he would be required to physically train until he collapsed, all the while being challenged with academic tests and Philosophical thought experiments, political drills and magical puzzles that would stress mind and body at the same time. Malarian, a rough but fair teacher, would seldom congratulate or reward him; instead insisting upon how he could improve with every single lesson whilst also acknowledging that he had "Eliminated Errors" in his performance. Other teachers, tutors and trainers would tell him he was doing very well but, in order to avoid him growing too proud of his talents, Malarian discouraged this behavior and would regularly admonish the child; insisting he not consider himself barely more than proficient when on the field of battle, "Lest your confidence be your end."   The Years crawled by and the boy knew little of the childhood he was missing, nor of the constant legal combat in the background between Malarian and his True family; The House Of Valeer. Unbeknownst to him Malarian had seen too much talent and promise in the boy to return him to his parents after his initial training in magic and instead kept the child, insisting that his family had not spoken of him and that they did not want him back. This allowed Malarian to groom young Zorus into what would become Carcinomus; a strong, independent, intelligent and highly educated boy who would be able to stand as one of the newest and greatest weapons against the crushing tyranny of the Theocracy Of Eldin; Kanda's greatest rival.   Eventually, wandering north to south along the border of Eldin, Malarian and Zorus would meet Timothy Finnegan: The Speaker Of Truth. Hearing his plight and having just lost the unit they were attached to, Malarian and Zorus joined The Speaker Of Truth and his men, eventually ending up in the southern reaches of The Kanda-Eldin Border on patrol when The Mother Of The Arts appeared and The Battle Of Newforest (Also Known As The Battle Of Loka) began.
Malarian was killed in that battle by an errant lightning bolt that he was not able to deflect. However, lying with the lower half of his body blown away, he begged Zorus to take his name, which Zorus would proudly announce as "Carcinomus."   As the light left his Master's eyes, Carcinomus rose and went to bloody warfare, finding The Speaker Of Truth again and joining with The Mother Of The Arts to lead the charge of victory alongside the many brave Leconia of Kanda's Military!

Gender Identity

Carcinomus Views Himself As A Typical Kandia Man (He/Him/His)

Sexuality

While perhaps a bit young to properly conceptualize sexuality, Carcinomus appreciates both sexes for their respective attractive features. However, he understands his own position in society and what is expected of him when the time comes.

Education

Being born under such auspicious signs, personally blessed by a major deity and fostered to a noteworthy Mysterios before his first birthday, Carcinomus has been afforded the best education The Empire Of Kanda can offer, both in the ways of magic as well as mundane academia. No expenses were spared for the boy's first year, with countless blessings lain upon him, nurses who fawned over him magically and tutors competing for the right to become his godfather and foster him.   Under his Master Mysterios he was trained night and day in rigorous philosophical studies, physical exercises and fields of magic.
Under a revolving door of tutors, mentors and personal guardians, the wish of Vastutos Marnus Lasuk (Desert's Great Lake) was honored; the boy constantly tested and quizzed even as he worked hard to perfect his body and master his connection to magic.   At the age of eight Carcinomus' Master was assigned to The Western Border of Kanda, to hold the line against the foul Eldinia who had been attempting to push forth in their deicidal campaign to assert their own cultural deity as the one and only god of the world at large.
Rather than be fostered off to another Mysterios or returned to his family, however, Carcinomus was brought with to the front!   Here his TRUE education began!
His master informed him that simple exercises and memorization would no longer be enough. He would have to learn at only half the typical age... to kill!
And so Carcinomus, alongside his Master, took his first life at eight years old; having learned to cast forth a ball of fire and incinerating a man where he stood. Nothing was left of his attacker and his master told him that it was best that way.   The next four years were a whirl of new information to him, of becoming desensitized to noise, combat, danger... death! He was trained to develop his own Personal Effect and mastered many forms of counterspelling and potion making. While the battlefield did not offer for casual study, he had no shortage of active soldiers, military mysteria and combat ready Enthiria to educate him on how best to destroy the Enemies of Kanda... and to instill in him the understanding that, as death may come at any point, it is best to simply think nothing of it in the first place. After four years of being on the field, and perhaps most importantly for the boy, Carcinomus learned that death is not worth thinking about... that being a Mysterios meant mastering death itself... and so Carcinomus, to this day, feels no fear of combat or danger.

Employment

Legally Carcinomus is now a Junior Mysterios, which means he earns a proper wage from the branch of society he is bound to, provided he is working; in this case The Military Infrastructure Of Kanda. While he is not technically enlisted like so many and will never be required to serve as a Leconis, his role in combat allows him pay relative to a lower officer. Even before the Battle of Newforest (Later Renamed The Battle Of Loka) he was given a generous allowance by his Master to maintain his own educational and combat supplies.   While his position as a Junior Mysterios (as opposed to just a magical apprentice!) may be officially in question the death of his master and the taking of many lives during The Battle Of Newforest marks him as a capable member of his profession who is worth the respect of the title despite being dwarfed by his standard contemporaries.   For Now and until the Military Council Of Kanda discusses his position he will, however, retain his title and employment and will be compensated suitably.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Considering the ungodly shitstorm that was The Battle Of Newforest, MOST of those who survived it were given certain honors, including apprentices that got caught up in the fighting like Carcinomus. For that matter, Carcinomus was at the head of the advance as the enemy line broke, following The Mother Of The Arts through the entirety of the 12 hour battle.
For this Carcinomus was awarded the distinction of being named "Guardian Of The Arts" and has been offered right of a small shrine in his home on the southern shores of Vastutos Marnus Lasuk. Though this title does not include any land or official benefits it automatically marks him as someone not only with association to but as a close acquaintance of The Mother Of The Arts! Many already know this distinction and have begun sending him letters in hopes that he may cultivate family ties with them once he is a man grown.

Mental Trauma

While certainly possessing no shortage of traumatic experiences, Carcinomus is one of the rare few that simply doesn't process trauma as he should! The boy, while certainly having once been just like any other, has long since become desensitized or even entirely numb to the most traumatic of experiences. He has seen numerous battlefields, mastered an ability that would loosely translate to "Touch Of Death" if put into words and saw his own master (closest thing to a dad he has) blown half to bits just to die in front of him, desperately gasping for him to take his Mysterios Name. He has been showered with blood, regularly catches arrows and deflects balls of fire into the enemy lines and has been taken into hostage situations no less than half a dozen times with NO FEAR!   While Perhaps he understands a situation's seriousness, Carcinomus has long ceased to process "Mental Trauma" and this consistently disturbs and distances those that get close to him, as he feels little to no remorse for those who die around him and does not hesitate to continue his life as normal even if covered by the viscera of his own dearest friends.

Intellectual Characteristics

Well groomed, highly educated, extremely confident and absolutely fearless; Carcinomus is a genius from birth with the force of divine favor behind him and an understanding of death the likes of which none of his peers can feasibly grasp. Having been schooled from an incredibly young age with the most advanced teaching methods known to the empire, Carcinomus can read and write in many different languages, do complex calculations in his head, memorize complex rituals and casually remember the details of a room at a glance well enough to catch changes in the same room hours or even days later.   While perhaps trained and conditioned his entire life to be a mental powerhouse, the boy possesses far more blunt intellectual talent than his master has ever let him understand, for fear that he would grow overconfident and foolhardy if he ever grasped how truly powerful and intelligent he was, developing a bit of a complex in thinking that he is barely proficient in magic at all whilst simultaneously performing great intellectual feats and solving philosophical problems far beyond his years. True to any good soldier, he is always looking for ways to improve a situation; whether it be pointing out flaws in local defenses or appraising the local armories, having been taught to recognize these such things from the many Kensaria and Civiandia he's learned under growing up, though many claim that he needs little in the way of direction and catches onto new topics almost instantly.   Assumed to have some sort of advantage in learning above even the most gifted of his peers, many believe that Carcinomus needs to be explicitly limited until his views on reality grow to match his mental ambitions; so intelligent and such a fast learner but also so impulsive and quick to action. They know that his intelligence is to be nurtured but also worry it will lead him to an early grave.

Morality & Philosophy

Carcinomus is defined by his fellows as a Traditionalist, as he works as hard as he can to follow the etiquette of war to the absolute letter. While, of course, a starry eyed look at how one should do battle, Carcinomus also doesn't fool himself into thinking others are as "Civilized" as he is and does not expect his enemy to treat him the same, "Especially not the savage Eldin."   Unlike many, he never pockets items during war and turns in all finds to the Kensaria dutifully!
He never turns his magic on the unarmed and civilian, sometimes even to his own peril.
He does not take advantage of the Daroba and only treats honorably and honestly. All deals are to be mutually beneficial unless the Daroba had to be brought to the table by force.
He does not lie nor fabricate. Indeed he is so serious about this that the Speakers Of Truth consider him welcome in their ranks.
He does not use magic to create permanent or semi-permanent hardship on the areas and people that the Kandia have conquered and/or from which they have demanded tribute.
He always presents himself with the utmost propriety and maintains proper manners and etiquette even under duress.
He steps up to maintain order when he sees it failing
He speaks out against poor commands but returns to line when his leader demands as such.
He Exists In Service To The People Of Kanda and no strength nor god nor force of magic will hold him back from his duty to The Nation.
To Children And Women he is nothing but a gentleman.
To His Enemies He Retains Respectful But Firm
To all Animals he is the master but also a friend
To All Machines he is the artificer, the engineer and the commander.
He toils in the fields as any farmer, stacks and mortars bricks as any builder, deals with a patron as any merchant and swings his sword as any soldier.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Carcinomus is motivated by the same things the average soldier is motivated by; Food, Pay, Protection, Training, Solid Direction, Glory and Service To The Empire! Like any Kandia Man he seeks to make a name for himself in the world; gain notoriety and wealth, train an apprentice to carry on his school of magic, maybe even start his own order and/or gain land and start a family!
While perhaps not a very personal or specialized source of determination it is still one of the most common and easily relatable motivations in his part of the world; with all manner of soldiers in their twenties and thirties having exactly the same desires for their own lives and appreciating that some children have the opportunity to start early and that these children are keeping their minds on what's right and traditional instead of what is new and interesting. Very much classically trained AND classically motivated, Carcinomus reasonably wants what any man wants; a good life, some good land and a good family.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

While certainly a bit of a social butterfly and perhaps a capable speaker when put on the spot, Carcinomus has a distinct lack of empathy when it comes to others. His mindset that death will come when it wants and that it shouldn't be thought about too terribly much drives him to regard blood, gore, violence and hate with a sort of dismissive and easy-going attitude that makes others feel extremely uncomfortable. He will gladly carry on casual conversations while digging elbows deep in a still living body and tell his interlocutors that he's "Just doing some light surgery" and insist that there's no reason to stop talking. He is completely incapable of understanding why others might be scared, worried or uncertain of dangerous situations and often encourages them to walk headlong into lethal circumstances with simple, matter of fact statements like, "It's just a hall filled with fire. Either the shield spell will work or it won't but there's no reason in being uncertain. We're just losing time on the spell's duration. You go first! I'll be right behind you in case you get scared and try to turn around and run."   Moreover, despite his age, Carcinomus feels no need to hold his tongue when he notices the mistakes of his elders; openly chastising fully grown adults with corrections or lectures when he sees them performing actions he's been told not to or otherwise behaving irresponsibly. This, of course, has endeared him highly to the members of The Speakers Of Truth and their leader Timothy Finnegan, who all appreciate being kept honest at all times. However, it is hated by most officers and commanders with a sort of toxic passion and he has been stricken about the head and face many times by irritated commanders who will not tolerate a child correcting them, telling him that he is lucky to be allowed on the front lines at all instead of supping at his mother's breast. While his Master used to protect him from the majority of such mistreatment, often violently reacting to the offenders, his Master is now dead and there is nobody that goes out of their way to protect him.
Even still, Carcinomus seemingly has not learned from this rough treatment and has made no effort to keep from correcting his superiors publicly.

Hygiene

Like Any Good Kandia, Carcinomus Regards Hygiene As The Mark Of True Civility!
Suitably, Carcinomus is a huge fan of hot baths, soap and personal hygiene. As someone raised by soldiers he also keeps his hair cut very short, wears well maintained battle gear and works hard to shave whatever small hairs appear on his face; as Kandia Soldiers usually must keep their hair short and their faces shaved, with exception, to maintain unit cohesion, keep the enemy from having anything to grab and to keep a certain look about the soldiers.   Carcinomus, unlike most Kandia, is well schooled in "Sand Bathing" as practiced by some groups of Desert People in Longo Valeer and other desert regions of Kanda. While this practice is mostly thought to be a Daroba practice and water bathing is encouraged over all other means of hygiene, Carcinomus and a select group of soldiers have started taking up Sand Bathing on the borders of Eldin due to the shortage of clean water and surplus of sand in the nation. The scouring nature of sand, already having been used to clean equipment, turned out to be useful to the soldiers' hygiene when water supplies ran dry and it was individuals like Carcinomus and his Master who came up with the idea.

Social

Contacts & Relations

While Carcinomus himself has not lived long enough to truly make alliances and connections to powerful individuals his Master CERTAINLY had and, upon his death, passed many of those connections necessarily to Carcinomus, who has been fervently writing to all of them to deliver the news of his Master's death as well as seek their support. While most of these such contacts do not know Carcinomus well, his reputation precedes him and his master fortunately spoke of him very often while corresponding to these peers. Many, in the years of Carcinomus' training, have grown impressed hearing of his progress and wish to see him prosper. Some have even had the pleasure of meeting and tutoring him, of which all regard him as a genius and would do much to support his growth and position as Junior Mysterios.   That being said, many still doubt his position and will not go out of their way to aid him other than by sending requested letters, speaking vaguely in preference of his talents. As of yet it is impossible for the boy to understand exactly who is and isn't his friend in these old contacts and so has turned to the two founders that he knows of for guidance; relying on The Speaker Of Truth to let him know who is and isn't lying, relying on The Mother Of The Arts to provide a learned eye on what he is writing, such that he is not ridiculed for his naivete.

Family Ties

While Carcinomus actually comes from a rather well to do family at the southernmost borders of The Empire, one which VERY quickly adopted the Kandia ways and culture and seldom looks back, he has never known anyone from his family; be it his mother, father, many siblings or his extremely expansive extended family. The House Of Valeer is a very noteworthy trading house on The Great Lake that sits in the main desert of the southern continent. Possessing of verdant crop fields along the edge of the water and trading in salt, furs, iron and exotic animals; The House Of Valeer and their supremacy over the lake make them integral to anyone in the region who wishes to travel.   While he only knows the name of his parents by reputation and hasn't stepped foot in Longo Valeer since before he would walk, if he were to return he would be graciously welcomed back into the family. His family has long missed him and desires for his return so that he knows where he came from and understands how his family came into power... and what future familial politics await him. Though they understand that most Mysteria forsake their old family names and follow lives of unattached wizards they still hope that he will one day return and see that he will always have a place on the lakeside. At worst they seek to return him home once he is a man grown, that they may hire him into their service and keep him in The House Of Valeer.   Along with his ancestral house, Carcinomus has been personally blessed by The Regional Deity Vastutos Marnus Lasuk, who considers the boy like an adopted son and who has given him a blessing of power. Were Carcinomus to return to the lake, even if he were to desire to contact with his blood relations, the deity of the region would be more than happy to accept him into the fold once again.

Religious Views

Both being blessed by a regional deity of Kanda as well as having been raised among Mysteria and Enthiria, Carcinomus is rather devout toward his beliefs in The Kandia Pantheonic System; both in its efficacy as a system of divine politics as well as in the power of the individuals deities themselves. He, as most Kandia do, find the single-deity beliefs of The Eldin to be perverse and corrupt... and in clear objection to observable reality. He finds their wanton killing of gods and destruction of the natural world that those gods keep in balance to be one of the greater slights, to not be forgiven and to be answered with destruction.   Though Carcinomus has not been known to pray regularly or bother thinking too much about the gods in his day to day, he's incredibly eager to attend festivals, animal sacrifices, temple days, special ceremonies and all manner of other activities children tend to love seeing and being involved in.   Carcinomus is INCREDIBLY interested in the Return Of The Founders Of Kanda, spending much of his time in the last half a year under the watchful eye of Timothy Finnegan: The Speaker Of Truth. He spends much of his time in the evening reading old stories of the Founders and their accomplishments, spends days not in battle questioning the returned founder and now considers himself lucky beyond his wildest dreams to have also met Aurora Hogan: The Mother Of The Arts on the Eldin Border during The Battle Of Newforest. He legitimately believes that the founders have returned not just to establish new branches of government to stabilize Kanda but, more importantly, to band together and destroy The Theocracy Of Eldin once and for all. He would do ANYTHING to be there with them when that day comes!
He's STARTING To Believe It Might Even Be Part Of His Destiny!!!

Social Aptitude

Carcinomus is extremely sociable when allowed; a chatty twelve year old who has yet to fall to the grimness of his position as a Mysterios and still observes all manner of childlike manners and etiquette that fully fledged Mysteria have long eschewed out of a sense of jaded exhaustion. Called "Young Master Smiles" for his perpetually optimistic and energetic demeanor, Carcinomus is not only chatty but explicitly charismatic for his age. The boy moves with a sense of confidence not often seen in his similarly trained apprentices and many say he possesses a sort of charisma that they can't shake and endears him to the more gruff soldiers he tends to spend so much time with. Because of this optimistic, confident and even sometimes casual demeanor around the camp Carcinomus makes a strong impression wherever he goes that encourages the men around him; an endearing figure that brings up morale and instills a sort of active protectiveness of him. Sometimes it seems his very presence causes others to act more upright and responsible, certain not to make themselves seem less useful on the line than some smiling, magical boy who hasn't yet figured out how dangerous the world really is.   That being said, Carcinomus is not socially deft. Despite his optimistic and charismatic demeanor, the boy is not actually a terribly convincing speaker and is often oblivious to social cues and the best topics for mixed company. His entire life being what amounts to him as a ward of the military means that he knows little of what "real life" is like; of high society table manners, of the sensitivities of the common people and of the weakness of the average man. He regularly fails to understand grief or anguish in his seniors and has a hard time understanding the tragedy behind the loss of human life on the battlefield beyond the strict sense of numbers, though never immediately enters a situation with bloodshed in mind. In a sense he has very little empathy, having a very difficult time understanding the feelings of others even in more obvious situations.

Mannerisms

Unlike many Mysteria, or even many adult soldiers he knows, Carcinomus is incredibly serious about maintaining all possible matters of etiquette and formality. While perfectly understanding that most soldiers and ESPECIALLY most Mysteria do not stick with the more standard style of high society Kandia speech, Carcinomus has always figured that this was one of the many things that differentiated him from the truly Daroba. Suitably his speech is riddle with "My Good Man's" and "If it wouldn't be too much to insist's," "If you would be so kind's" and "If I Do Say So Myself's."   While this is perhaps considered both overly formal and almost comically high brow in Kandia society, many regard a child of his age using these spoken mannerisms to be incredibly endearing and enjoy it highly! In the war camp, on campaign, many regard it as a reminder of home; something to keep their minds on what's right and how to properly act when they return from their service and start their own families. Many wish that their own children would one day be as well mannered as Carcinomus.

Hobbies & Pets

Carcinomus has no pets nor hobbies; dedicating all of his waking hours to learning, training and fighting.
However, Carcinomus has clear preferences toward ravens and dogs and one day hopes to have one of each; a sturdy and loyal hound to accompany him on the field as well as an intelligent and well spoken bird to deliver messages and keep him company. True to any good Mysterios, he sees animals more as things to work rather than as companions, though coworkers can STILL be companions all the same!   If they can be called "pets," Carcinomus is afforded four Donkeys by the Kensar of The Speakers Of Truth. He treats them well and sometimes even talks to them, though he does not know them by name, merely numbering them One Through Four. While they are sometimes affectionate, they mostly drag carts around full of his stuff and chew on oats.

Wealth & Financial state

His master having no legitimate children to inherit the bloated coffers of a strenuous career in magic as a military man, Carcinomus found upon the opening of his Master's Last Will And Testament that much of the old man's fortune had been dedicated to him. The extremely official document issued all necessary legalese to officially transfer the old Mysteria goods to the boy, Leaving Carcinomus surprisingly wealthy.   While this perhaps does not push Carcinomus into the jade wielding caste of society that is The Imperial Class it certainly will keep him comfortable if wisely saved and spent, potentially even keeping him comfortably in "The Noble Class."
While perhaps this great wealth doesn't include land, as many Mysteria eschew land ownership just as they eschew families and relationships, it does include all manner of material possessions, of which many are magical in nature.   Carcinomus' Personal Inheritance Includes:
A Heartfelt Letter From His Master Explaining All Of The Man's Rough Treatment And Dismissive Behaviors Toward Carcinomus As He Grew And Learned And Apologizing
