Orkuz

Once a capital city of a great kingdom of the same name, the Diamond City was fully multicultural, which lead to the downfall. Like many other lands, Orkuz faced the expansionist wrath of the Intransican Empire. Rather than being incorporated into the Empire, it was razed to the ground for daring to posit that humans could prosper alongside Orcs and other non-humans.

History

Orkuz was once a prosperous capital city. Despite it's remoteness, it was able to thrive by uniting humans alongside orcs and the Dwarves of Hammerdeep. An enormous diamond, larger than most buildings, was centered in the highest tower of the palace, brought from the holds of the Dwarves as a show of unity and goodwill. The Ruling family governed fairly and with rare grace, thought to possess a gift from the gods for their rare golden eyes. The Kingdom and City of Orkuz ruled well into the Third Age; rather than participating in The Triumverate War, the group maintained complete nuetrality, the orcs insisting they would not fight Orkuz or any other force, so long as they were not attacked first. A rare feat, as even the Stoneheart Orcs had not found a way to stay out of the war.   Their nuetrality mattered nothing to Intransica and it's leader, newly named as the Immortal Emperor. Their humanist position and the claim that their culture would never be safe so long as Orcs could potentially pose a threat, made Orkuz a huge target; a counterpoint example that had to be eradicated. The Siege of Orkuz brought a greater amount of forces than would ever be necessary and more than had been comitted to defeated nations twice their size. Such was the ire the Immortal Emperor had for their existence.

The Humans of Orkuz fought valiantly, but the Dwarven allies never appeared, and the Orcs had been too weakened in number to marshal any meaningful contribution. Fighting valiantly but hopelessly, the city would be destroyed, the Royal Family scattered among the debris, long since thought to be eliminated.

Geography

The city of Orkuz is situated at the source of the Dokendir River, in what is now the eastern region of the Empire. The River feeds down into the Orrin River, a rare freshwater lake for the region. To it's immediate North and East are the high mountains of HammerDeep Dwarves. The immediate area is a seasonal forest, making it more habitable than many of the other places sof the Empire, but still far from idyllic.
