Emperor
One of the most ominous titles in the world, Emperor's of T'sara wield great power and responsibility. Many have sought to lead an empire, fewer have done so, and even fewer still have done so well.
Appointment
No Emperor is ever appointed, one claims the title for themselves. The title is earned when there is no one left who may question or defy the title.
Responsibilities
As with any leader of a nation, an Emperor is responsible for the care and prosperity of their nation and their people. Unlike with other nations, the distinction of what is "their" people is often much more narrowly defined, as empires claim land under their control, but do not grant nationality to the residents of those lands.
A large portion of this responsibility is also in appearance to the outside world. Regardless of what the internal nature is, an Empire must always appear strong, wealthy, and great. As such, much of the Emperor's responsibility involves prevailing that image and narrative not only internally, but externally as well.

Benefits
The benefits of an Emperor are immesurable, which explains why so many mad tyrants have sought it. One is granted complete power, nigh unquestionable by any, and the wealth and resources of countless souls to satisfy nearly any desire.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
There has never been a mechanism by which an Emperor may be legally removed from their power. Such notions are antithetical to the notion of position and concept of an empire. Emperors only surrender their power voluntarily to their next of kin, or are removed by brute force, consequences of their failure to lead.
Notable Holders
First among holders currently is the enigmatic leader of the Intransican Emperor, known solely as The Immortal Emperor. Having defeated the orcs at a pivotal moment and hturning the tide of The Triumverate War, he quickly turned a fight for self defense into an expansionist conflict like none had ever seen, vying to put all of the nations of Man under his banner. Having claimed to ascended to the status of God, he has lead The empire to become the largest ever seen in the history of T'sara, with the largest forces of arms to match. For all of the glory and agrandizement, there are signs of cracks in the Empire. Those on the frontier spaces are scarcely benefiting from the supposed majesty of the Empire. The Army has been at a stalemate with the Tribes of Krag'ash for over a generation now, in the supposed "final battle" of the war, to eliminate the orc threat forever. The Maiden Queen has also been openly challenging the might and authority of the Empire, questioning the legitimacy of the claims of Godliness. The Immortal Emperor may lay claim to Intransica, but The Maiden Queen may safely lay claim to rule the world's oceans.
The second of current holders of the claim of Emperor is from Purshand. Emperor Vicilly is young, having inherited the role from his father, and his father before him. Having known this was his role from birth, he was trained as early as he could begin to pay attention to manage the empire well. That training may have been for naught. As with most who have inherited the title and position in the past, Vicilly is squandering the power he has on his own selfish and petty gains. He is more concerned with the outward appearances of his greatness and the greatness of the Empire than in fixing any of the problems that he also inherited from his father. The empire is rife with corruption, including in the army and in the judiciary. The situation is not sustainable for long: it may only be one incident away from beginning a slow collapse that the Empire cannot avoid, just as has occurred with countless empires before them. Although considerably smaller than others, the behavior of the Elven king of Sylran Denolo likely justifies consideration of him being labeled Emperor, for good or for ill. Granting Drow prisoners of war the island of Hylsa as their own land was merciful. However, not granting them the full agency and sovereignty of said land makes the island an effective colony, and possibly the world's largest prison, depending on how one chooses to argue. Muddying the waters further are their current quarrels and military actions. They desire to integrate the lands of their neighbors into their own, but under the justification that those were once Sylran lands, having been seperated by force an Age ago. Whether it is or is not an Empire, and whether it is ruled by a King or Emperor, will likely be decided after the fact by historians in times to come.

Equates to
Though an Emperor equates to a King or other head of state, there are key differences. One is a sheer matter of scale. Emperors are responsible for a much greater amount of territory and lives. The Intransican Empire, for example, is the largest in the world by far, and could easily be broken into a dozen or more separate nations of decent size.
The other dissection is perhaps more important, being that of mindset. The very nature of Empire is that of claiming and exploiting land, people, and resources from other lands as your own, for the benefit of your country.
