Drandee
Drandee Dileath
A gregarious and ingenious business owner, Drandee operates The Rusted Tavern Inn along the road in and out of Krakorum. Eager to celebrate, the dwarf hosts all manner of holidays in his tavern and inn, and even invented some.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Despite being a simple tavern keeper, Drandee keeps himself in strong physical condition, finding creative ways to use the tavern and it's material inside to exercise and push himself. The strength has allowed greater confidence that he literally won't be pushed around by the big folk humans, and merely to help him break up the time in slow periods. His auburn hair is soft and naturally curly, which has meant extra work keeping his lengthy beard in manageable shape.
Specialized Equipment
Drandee's fashioned a series of custom drinkware for his establishment. Though more expensive, they are distinctive, making it obvious to those in the area where they came from. Fences refuse to take the stolen tankards and mugs, and has generally been considered so bad form in the population that the only ones who've given it any thought are foreigners.

Personal history
Born in a large family, deep in the holds of Hammerdeep, Drandee was deeply integrated into Dwarven life. The Dileath family was prosperous enough, hard working in the mines and forges. Competition in the old hold was strong, and Drandee's parents encouraged resourceful and unconventional thinking over simply just putting more hours in the day. The sweat of one's brow was just reward for the effort, but the labor and reward was for naught if not spent on the greater parts of life; one's friends and family. Pursuing passions were worthwhile, but only so far as they could enrich a person financially as well as they could personally.
Thankfully, Drandee found a place where the two could intersect quite well. Less inclined to the mines, he found his home near the hearths and stoves. He found the brewing of ales a fascinating process. Apprenticing under one of the local masters, he learned all of the intricacies of how one can make superb alcohols. Having also family secret recipes for typical cuisine of Hammerdeep, he would have everything he might need to pursue his profession, though how he came about it came quite by accident. Drandee and his eldest brother drove a trading caravan west, through the Danyn, and into the Kingdom of Khartoum. Their desire for resources and tools of great quality made the rare journey to the coastline worth it. As they arrived at their final destination, the capital city of Krakorum, Drandee had an epiphany. There stood a large, old building, abandoned and left for nature to reclaim. An old tavern or inn, he reckoned, given that the old sign for the business still remained. A dragon, made of iron, covered in rust from years of harsh rain. What so many others saw as junk and refuse, he saw potential. Even if every piece of wood had to be torn down and replaced, the were was a chance here to provide what no one else could. His knowledge of ale making and cooking would provide more valuable here than at home. With his brother's help, he was able to convince the family to lend him the funds to go back and make a go of a life as a tavern keeper. He would be far away from family, but this would be a way for him to break out and help strengthen the family, and Hammerdeep. Building and operating the tavern was difficult, more so than he would have imagined, at first. The crafting of ale was enjoyable, but managing hospitality for a profession was another layer of the enterprise he hadn't correctly assessed the challenge of. But, for all of that challenge, he enjoyed and thrived in it. Having kept a relic from it's past life, Drandee decided to name the new establishment The Rusted Dragon Tavern. His gregarious personality warmed him naturally to the position, and his underline idea was correct; that he would get a large amount of visitors as they traveled in or out of Krakorum, and would pay larger sums for Hammerdeep style goods than what they would pay for the local equivalents in the city. It would serve as a means to exercise his creative outlets in a way few opportunities back home would have. One of Drandee's creative inventions is the feast of Garagt, the fierce dragon that his business insignia represents. No such dragon exists, and the population know the story is a farce. That's actually worked in his favor, as the traditions and antics of the event grow more bombastic in time.

Sexuality
Dandree is surprisingly mild in his sexuality and tendencies. Having hosted events that have knowingly gotten out of hand and lead to lurid behavior, one might think he was into that. Rather, he's not willing to shun coin just because of how other people enjoy themselves.
He likes to think of himself as a romantic and a gentleman of a Dwarf, and that one shows the care for someone by the exceptional way they are treated. It's been some time since he's been in a relationship for a lengthy period, so who's to say at this point?
Education
As with most Hammerdeep families, Drandee was educated by his parents and older siblings. He's literate and understands numbers, as well as many of the other mundane skills associated with life underground. He has a ruidmentary understanding of geology, that would still surpass the knowledge of most surface dwellers. In a culture highly based on trading, he's able to assess rough value of basic tools and goods, which he's honed more accurately since setting up his tavern.
Employment
Before his current job, Drandee held a number of jobs more customary with the mines. he was familiar with his pickaxe, and hauling the carts to foundries and forges.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Having created the Rusted Dragon Tavern from the broken mess that it been, and turned into one a thriving business is the achievement of his life. He is incredibly proud of his work, and defends it and its reputation fiercely.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Drandees goals can be explained pretty simply; a comfortable retirement, a family, and more of his kind making a home in Khartoum: the latter two proving more difficult.
The Dwarves of Hammerdeep hold tight to their values and traditions. It will take more than just his personal success to dislodge more than a couple of them from the mountains. Which, in his mind, is a shame, as the Humans of Khartoum are as industrious as they are. So long as they don't care if they're supporting the maritime industry, they'd be right at home.
Starting a family is seeming an even harder task, and growing more difficult with the passage of time. Children, obviously, can only come from being with another dwarf. Most dwarf women that do come through the area are already accompanied with husbands. The young and eligible have generally been uninterested in a Dwarf of his age, which is only getting to be more of a problem.
Social
Contacts & Relations
Drandee keeps an uncanny memory of the guests in his establishment, especially traders or business owners. He's leveraged to get his hands on some exotic wares to sell, and some good deals with locals, making his establishment a stand out establishment.
Family Ties
Drandee is one of the middle of an extensive family of nine children. Many of the others have traveled out from Hammerdeep, trying to find their fortunes in much the same way as Drandee, though none of them have traveled as far. They communicate, to a degree, through letters across the continent, and reunite for family events. Many in his immediate and extended family wonder when he'll get married, as he's the last of his siblings to not be.
Religious Views
Drandee feels deep devotion to Hjanda. Fifth of Six Sisters, Goddess of Dwarves, of Families, and Tools, much of his life is governed by her. He prays to her specifically so that he might be blessed with creating a family of his own.
Wealth & Financial state
Operating the Rusted Dragon for so long, on such a busy road for traders, has granted Drandee a sizable wealth of coin. He's taken a few trips to deposit his wealth in the treasure holds of home, to minimize the potential damage of being robbed.
