The Rise of the Vazian Barony

Founding

From the ashes of the old Vazian Empire, the baron of Northpass within the eastern most reaches of Vazia rose up, the only known living heir of the emperor since his fall during the Battle of Keirnburg which was the fracturing event that caused the true fall of the old Vazian way of life.   It is this baron, Matyas Thorne, that rose up, and sewn the fractured lands back together, unifying them under his banner and ensuring the Vazian people would not die out during this dark period of the empire's life.

For a time, wars were raged between Vazia and its neighbors, but neither side could gain ground, and with the fear of Vazia's strength broken, the nearby provinces of Arlogas and Erazor no longer bowed to its might, splintering from the empire. Worse yet was the loss of the northern province of Rhella, when they rebelled against the empire, thus beginning the Era of Blood and Tears, a time when the Empire continued to fracture with rebellion after rebellion, ending in the final battle where the last known emperor of True Vazia was slain in battle by the emirate of the western provinces, fracturing Vazia into three empires, that of Rhella, Vazia, and lastly, with their victory this third faction proclaimed themselves the Emirate of Western Vazia, and their new empire as Tazanti, after their capitol of Tazantium.   With the death of the emperor, Baron Matyas Thorne, the last living descendant of the royal bloodline, rose up and united his people, squashing any attempts at dissention, and though the once empire was surely fractured, he brought them together, even with the curse that many say his family holds, he was obeyed.   Soon after his coronation, on the 16th of Pharast 2,400 A.D, Matyas proclaimed the ashes of the empire would be renamed to The Barony of Vazia, and he and his sons, would lead them to victory, for on this day, vengeance would soon fill the hearts of Vazias people with renewed strength, as a celestial event of falling stars known within the kingdom as the Wrath of Dahak crashed down upon the entirety of Tazanti, destroying it, and some of the nearby holds as well. Though this destruction was held back somehow, by a barrier of radiant light that protected the rest of the planet from destruction.   It is from this sign, that the Barons right to rule was heralded as divine right, as many believe the baron heralded this event himself, and so, from the ashes of their enemies destruction, the Barony was birthed.
