Wokulogar the Moss-Beards
Strange Folk in Strange lands
Durring the Golden age of Dothmerjyi there was a great deal of exploration of the known world, one such was a joint operation between the Dwarves and Gnomes to venture into the long undersea tunnels refered to as the deep marches. For most the expedition was considered a tragic failure when the explorers and settlers traveling with them were enveloped by a primal magic surge and disapeared. Teleported to the distant lands of Athila many of the survivors thought they might be on another world. Star charts and magic managed to prove this was untrue but they were so far away from home that returning became impractical.
The dwarves decided they were better off settleing into the jungle hills and making the best of it until they could figure out how to return home. As things would have it the dwarves came to adapt to their new home and over time the idea of going back to Dothmeryji slipped from their mind. Aithila was their new place and they were now the Wokulogar, a name taken for the humans of that region's name for them, Wokulo something that roughly means Hairy Headed Ones in referance to Wokulu's tendencies towards very thick and often curly hair and beards.
We walk the green ways
The Wokulogar have adapted well to the jungle, legend say their hunters and trackers are so skilled that they are practically invisible in the jungles and that their keen eyes can see through both natural and magical deceptions with ease. More mischievous then many other stout folk there are plenty of tales of Wukulo stealing food, playing pranks but this is almost entirely done to people who neglect or disrespect them. Many folk of Athila speak well of the Wokulogar claiming they have helped teach their tribes advanced forms of agriculture and more refined methods of metal working and more then once have helped people stand against monsters and people of evil intent. Many trade networks are alliances exist between the Wokulugar and the good folk of Aithila that the Jungle dwarves are proud to honor.
Druidry and Shamanism have replaced the preference for clerical magic seen in most dwarven cultures with nature magic being used extensively and treated as an honored skill. Where the dwarves of other lands march to war clad in iron the Wokulugar stalk the jungles their rangers, hunters and barbarians along side or upon fearsome jungle beasts. The jungle dwelling Orcs and Goblinoids of Athila often look to the shadows of the jungle with heathy paranoia for where the jungles shadow falls there might be dwarven steel awaiting their throats or magic that will turn the very green itself upon them.
