The Dragon Leech
The Dragon Leech is a strange creature that feeds blood, flesh and magical energy. Though called Dragon Leechs they will happily feed on any creature unlucky enough to encounter them. Not a true leech or worm these Draconic life forms are a type of amphithere, a long serpentine dragon whose only limbs are a set of leathery wings.
While their body structure is not overly strange for the most part it is rare that one does not become unsettled by their mouth. For rather then snapping jaws a Dragon Leechs maw is a circular hag fish like sucktion cup adorned with a rotateing array of razor sharp fangs that evolved to cut through the scales of dragons to extract their blood and magical energy.
Born no larger then a human thumb and reaching up to three feet or more long at adulthood these creatures who call nearly every biome dragons are found in home are stealthy and have devloped a natural ability to baffle the senses of dragons so they can feed on them while they sleep. Able to secrete a pain numbing contact posion many of their victims either never know they were fed upon until they awaken or pass away painlessly in their sleep.
Dragon leechs rarely kill their prey, when they do it is typeicaly when they are starved or by accident with them prefering to feed and leave before the host might become aware of them however they are vectors for a number of diseases and the anti coagulents and pain killing toxins they produce are valuable to alchemists and healers alike. As intelligent as a dog or cat some have attempted to domesticate and breed these creatures to saddly disasterous effects in nearly every case.
