Nimerigar the Bloody-Beards

Evil Breeds evil   When the Duergar fled into the deep tunnels many would accept the curse of the Grey Soul but a few vehemently tried to be free of it. The most successful group started as a cult in service to a Duergar named Nimeri Flintstone. Nimeri would soon gain fame as having found a way to stave off the curse and many flocked his cult seeking to be free. Soon however Nimeri was exposed for his practice of demonology and it was discovered that ritual cannibalism, necromantic rituals and acts that made even the duergar less then comfortable were responsible for his ability to shrug off the curse. The Duergar may not have cared about such matters if it had not been a duergar priest taking offence to the demonologist and stealing the faith from the new Duergar god king.   In a series of grim and brutal trials of heresy the duergar clergy convinced the duergar that Nimeri was an agent of chaos who acted on behalf of demon kind to undermine their kin and rob them of their treasure. Nimeri was sentenced to execution soon after. The night before he could be beheaded however his faithful followers freed him and they fled upon a long and dangerous exodus through twisting tunnels across vast distances to a promised land far away from the rest of the Duergar. Here in the mountains of Kanata they settled and soon went to work continuing their foul practices under the new name of the Nimerigar.   Blood, Flesh and Bone give power to a twisted throne   Murderers, raiders, flesh eaters and necromancers the Nimerigar are infamous for stalking out from their mountain caves armed with poison tipped arrows seeking people to devour in their flesh eating rituals. The gnawed bones and remains being saved for necromantic rites and the creation of undead slaves. Even their own dead are seen as potential servants and mummification is widely practiced to preserve bodies for later use.   For many who dwell near the great stony mountains of Kanata the Nimerigar are a constant threat and object of fear. When the night is dim and stars and moon are in shadow beware the poisoned bows of the Nimerigar for they are always hungry for sapient flesh.
