Level 37 | The Poolrooms

Special Containment Procedures:

SCP-x002-37, most commonly known as The Poolrooms, is a subregion of SCP-x002. Being a sub-floor of SCP-x002, SCP-x002-37 is currently contained within SCP-x216. All entrypoints into The Poolrooms via the "frontrooms" are monitored by Foundation sites. Unauthorized entry into SCP-x002-37 is strictly prohibited.   All explorations of SCP-x002-37 must be pre-approved by personnel with Level 4 clearance. Explorers must be equipped with standard aquatic survival equipment, including rebreathers, underwater navigation systems, and reinforced thermal suits to counteract potential prolonged exposure.   Monitoring devices are deployed at key entry points to detect unusual activity, including spontaneous environmental changes or the appearance of unidentified entities. Personnel must maintain constant communication with Foundation command during exploration missions. Any unusual phenomena must be reported immediately.   Due to the absence of known life forms and the level's isolation, SCP-x002-37 is deemed low-risk for external breaches but requires periodic monitoring for newly appearing unstable entrances.

Description:

SCP-x002-37, colloquially referred to as "The Poolrooms," is a vast, interconnected system of rooms and hallways partially submerged in shallow, lukewarm water. The level is characterized by its pristine white ceramic tiles, which line all visible surfaces, including walls, floors, and ceilings. Despite the passage of time and lack of maintenance, these tiles remain free of damage, wear, or discoloration.   The architecture of SCP-x002-37 varies significantly but follows a strict geometric design. Its layout appears nonsensical, with areas connecting to one another in illogical ways. Rooms range in size from small pools and narrow corridors to expansive, irregularly shaped chambers. Numerous architectural anomalies have been documented, including:   ▣ Staircases that descend directly into deep water-filled pits.   ▣ Pillars that protrude from the water in large, impractical quantities.   ▣ Light sources that emanate from indeterminate angles, leaving some areas brightly lit and others shrouded in complete darkness.   Submerged zones of SCP-x002-37, accessible through underwater tunnels or descending staircases, pose significant risks to exploration. These areas often lack lighting and are subject to strong, unpredictable currents, making navigation hazardous.

Known Hazards and Entities:

▣ Entities: No entities have been observed within SCP-x002-37. Despite numerous explorations, no other lifeforms or SCPs have been encountered. This absence may result from the level's potential spatial distortion or its vast, seemingly endless expanse.   ▣ Water Composition: Traces of magnesium sulfate (Epsom salt) and unidentified compounds have been detected in the water. This combination produces a calming effect, relieving muscle tension and alleviating bodily discomfort. The anomalous compounds are believed to enhance this effect but remain poorly understood.   ▣ Constant Rippling: Water surfaces within SCP-x002-37 exhibit minimal, consistent rippling, even in the absence of external disturbances. The source of this phenomenon is unknown. Some theorize it may result from the immense size of SCP-x002-37, which could create tidal forces.   ▣ Sound Alteration: Sounds within SCP-x002-37 behave irregularly. Speech is muted or dampened, and water sounds fluctuate between calming and overpowering. Soundwaves also fail to reverberate as expected. Research into these auditory anomalies is ongoing.

Colonies and Outposts:

Despite the inherent uselessness of the terrain and the pervasive auditory anomalies of SCP-x002-37, numerous colonies and outposts have been established within this level. These colonies often act as safe havens from the hostility of SCP-x002, and stumbling upon a doorway to Floor 37, is almost always the best option for survival.   Colonists within SCP-x002-37 have adapted ingeniously to the unique environment. Using specialized hydroponic systems and sodium vapor lighting, they have cultivated crops that thrive in the enclosed, tiled environment. These systems enable sustainable food production despite the lack of fertile soil.   The water itself, a defining feature of SCP-x002-37, has proven invaluable to these colonies. Through advanced filtration and desalination processes, the magnesium sulfate and other compounds present in the water are removed, producing clean drinking water. This purified water is also repurposed for agricultural use, supporting the colonies' hydroponic infrastructure.   Additionally, the calming effects of the water, attributed to its unique composition, are often leveraged for therapeutic purposes, helping to maintain the mental health and morale of inhabitants.

Addendum x002-37-A:

Exploration Log x002-37-█: During an exploration mission conducted on ██/██/20██, a team of divers reported encountering an underwater chamber approximately 30 meters below the surface. The chamber contained numerous submerged staircases and a faint, humming sound that intensified as they approached. Due to equipment failure, the mission was aborted before the source of the sound could be identified. Further exploration is pending.

Addendum x002-37-B:

Incident x002-37-Alpha: On ██/██/20██, an unstable entrance to SCP-x002-37 manifested within a public pool in ████████, resulting in the disappearance of two civilians. Foundation operatives secured the area, administered amnestics to witnesses, and resealed the entrance using SCP-x216. This incident underscores the necessity of constant monitoring for unstable entrances.         Author(s):
