Alk Kenai

To their back and each side, the Alk Kenai stood resolute around the Oracle. Two armored guards sat in front of them, between the Oracle and the adventurer.
"It's too early, the other three from the night guard are still sleeping," the priestess whispered to the adventurer. "Make no mistake, a single one of the Alk Kenai will spell your doom should they feel your intent is to hurt their Mistress."
Elric eyed the troupe of five before speaking up.
"I do not mean any harm to the Oracle or any other." The Alk Kenai did not move from their posts, merely kept their eyes on the visitor. Sighing, the adventurer knelt before the alcove the Oracle sat in. The two seated Alk Kenai reminded him of statuary.
"I actually have a request for the Oracle, and the Alk Kenai."
"Yes?" The Oracle's voice was higher-pitched than he had imagined.
"I would ask you join us on an expedition to save Talthei." Even as he was finishing his sentence, his world flipped upside down and a pressure crushed down on his chest.
"Chixi, enough." The guard stepped back. All the Alk Kenai were standing, blocking their Mistress, the famed Oracle of Muyae, from Elric's view.
"This must be why Xel didn't bother coming himself," Elric muttered, letting his head drop back to the cool tiles.

The Alk Kenai are the guardians of the Oracle of Mayae, better known as the wordwitch Elira.
They take their job very seriously.

The equipment for a member of the Alk Kenai is specialized for them. Magic users may have a stash of power stones, for example, while those who are more physically inclined will have well-made armor and weaponry to fit their style.
