Kitot City, Capital of the Kagaaz Realm (key-TOTE)

The Capital City of The Kagaaz Realm is located on the North Eastern edge of the island. It is the largest settlement on Kagaaz by a large margin; the city's average population of 500,000 souls matches, and at times exceeds, that of all other villages in the realm combined. Kitot City's architecture is representative of most Kagaazi craftsmanship - a focus on functionality, robust durability, and ease of repair. Squat stone houses stacked side by side are plain in make and unadorned, but are easy to repair and quick to rebuild when necessary. The Kagaazi do not build up, but out and down - all buildings are dug at least half of their height into the ground to leverage one of the few natural benefits available to the population. Even the buildings of the ruling class are indistinguishable from civilian domiciles save for their immense size which is required to house the large hosts commanded by the noble houses.
For protection of the city proper the same dark grey stone used for houses is utilized to create a curtain wall of sorts, however its height does not reach taller than 15 feet at any one section and would be considered a poor defense by the standards of any other major city in Svengaard. Due to the limited native monster population, and the Kagaazi people's focus on survival above all else, the relatively diminutive ramparts have proven to be more than adequate protection for the citizen's of Kitot City.
To combat the harsh nature of Kagaaz, Kitot City is equipped with an environmental stabilizer that provides the population with clean breathable air and respite from the dangers of the wasteland. This technology, a combination of advanced engineering and magical enchantments, is very similar to the smaller personal stabilizers that must be worn by those who travel outside the safety of the settlement. The effect of the stabilizer can be observed as a sort of dome-like shield of blue and green magical energy extending up from the top of the city's curtain wall, encompassing the entire city.
