Mushum

Mushum is the capital city of the Zel kingdom. It is the first large city that boats travel past when traveling up the Mirror River to other busy cities of Zel. While the surrounding lands are not favored by the Ahsness, the close proximity to the Tranquil Expanse is beneficial. The city of Mushum imports grains from the cities further up the river as well as from traders coming from the sea.

Demographics

The population is primarily Ahsness, but as this is the capital city of Zel and the first city up the Mirror River, it has inhabitants of races as well as many traders.

Infrastructure

The heart of the city is located on a large SkyLand with the remainder of the city sprawls out below and around the SkyBridge.

There are two springs in the SkyLand. Water is routed to both the central city then funneled down the SkyBridge.

Districts

SkyLand - There are two large market areas on the SkyLand, each one at the juncture between the SkyBridge and the SkyLand. They are wide, open, paved areas in the open sunshine. The King/Queen of Zel resides here and many other nobles and wealthy people have their homes here. Their homes have small rooms, but large interior courtyards so that they can enjoy the sun in privacy. Additionally, there are government buildings, guilds, shops, and residences located here.

SkyBridge - The road on both sides of the SkyBridge is 15 feet (4.5 meters) wide and paved with dark bricks. The road has a 5 foot (1.5 meter) border on each side made of lighter colored bricks. Foot traffic stays to the lighter colored side walks while carts and animals traverse the center road. Outside of the road are shops, homes, and produce farms.

Under SkyLand - The Emerald Fork runs from west to east flowing under the SkyLand. Ahsness who have homes in this are of town are poor and do their best to spend as much of their time as possible away from home and in the sunlight.

Under Bridge & Surrounds - While this is not a fancy part of town, it is very busy with livestock pens, warehouses, manufacturing of rope, homes, and shops.

Bridge Ends - Both bridge ends lead down to the extensive docks on the Mirror River.
