The tenets of the Children of the Light

The God and the Goddess gave us the world and everything in it. They gave us life. The least we can do is do our best to live a life they can be proud of.
Everyone who is a Child of the Light, or happens to live in a place where this religion is the main one, are expected to follow the tenets of theirs. Most of these center around the body being a sacred gift from the God and the Goddess and to show respect to them and their creations. Not knowing these tenets and beliefs when visiting one of these countries can prove a big mistake.

The Body

Ones body is seen as sacred to the Children of the Light as it is a gift from the God and the Goddess to let you spend time on the Earth. The rules surrounding it are very important throughout the religion and can not be ignored.
Everyone has one body, and this is theirs alone. No one may touch another without their explicit permission.   Parents and children share a special bond, which is physical as well as spiritual. This bond requires touch.   Partners also share this bond with each other.   The priests are the God's and the Goddess' special emissaries and are therefore able to touch others, especially while preparing a new life for this world or an old life to leave.   The body is sacred and must not be altered in any way, lest the God and Goddess be angered.

The Sun and the Rain

The life-giving rain and sun represents the God and the Goddess, respectively, and therefore pay a huge role to the Children of the Light, which is seen most obviously in their temples.
The sun is our mother and the rain is our father. They are owed our highest respect for this gift of life.   Keep your gaze from the sun, lest she may burn your eyes for your disrespect.   The rain is for washing of the body, not things.   The highest blessing is to be struck by the rain and the sun's light at the same time, as the God and the Goddess come together once more.

In Society
A lot of the countries in the Southern Union has their legal systems based on the beliefs of the Children of the Light. The worst crimes you could commit here are crimes against another person's body. There is also a lot of laws regarding the handling of the sick and the dead, something that is usually completely reserved to the priests.

Variations
Even though the main religion is the same everywhere there are some variations in different places of the world where it is practiced. For example, clothing is very different: in Depavata they wear covering but very formfitting clothes to show off the body without showing skin, in Kaeeche they wear very loose clothing as to not show much of the body in any way, while in Tarahen and Draganma they have very revealing clothes to show of the body.

Another short and nice article by Etalia! I really don’t have much experience regarding writing about religions but I really enjoyed reading about this! Let’s get to what I liked about this first before I get to the critique phase!   First of all, the concept itself is just spectacular. I really loved reading about the main tenets of this religion and the dual deities. It’s a really nice touch you added there!   Secondly, the CSS is beautiful and easy to read! The parchment like look really conveys a good theme for your world here!   Now onto the questions!   1) What are the religions influences upon your world? In which place is it the majority and minority? How does the clergy and the church work?   2)Are there any sects of this religion? How do they differ from mainstream children of the light?   Congrats etalia and keep up the amazing work!

Thank you for your thorough comment Elias! This article is just about the tenets while the rest of the religion will be in its own article so I don't lock that up during validation!
