Being a DJ was Jamal's dream, he was a huge fan of hip hop growing up and always pictured himself on stage with the big names. The only problem was he could never afford the DJ equipment, and he only ever got one because he got lucky and won a radio contest. He spent all of his time practicing, and quickly became known around his neighborhood for his unique mixes.
He was excited when someone reached out to him to DJ at their party, he didn't even question it. When he arrived someone immediately left off a couple warning shots and he froze. They aimed at his head and demanded his equipment. He couldn't move & the gunman got impatient and shot his last 3 bullets at Jamal. Jamal instinctively moved his hands in front of his face to defend himself. The first time it seemed like a muscle spasm forced the gunman's hand to aim upward and miss. The second time it was like a magnet pulled the gun sideways and missed. The third time he focused, held the gun with both hands, took a deep breath and pulled the trigger. The gun exploded in his hands, Jamal who was still terrified snapped out of it and drove away as fast as he could.
It took several more instances of Jamal reacting to something and people failing in threes for him to notice the pattern. So he figured he try something harmless to test his theory on, breakfast. He went to see his mom and knew she would make him something if he came over. Her sausage, bacon and eggs were always delicious; so he figured if his powers worked she at worst undercooks or burns the food, no biggie. Because he was hungry he let her cook the sausage and eggs without doing anything. While cooking the bacon he decided to try it, he moved his hands and his mother accidentally spilled some cooking oil on the stove. After wiping it up, she accidentally turned up the fire on the stove which caught the rag on fire. She threw it at the sink and missed hitting the curtains, which then caught fire. Before the fire department showed up half of his mothers house had burnt down. Just because he wanted some eggs, he was honestly to ashamed to tell her it was fault.
But he knew it was on him to fix it, so with his new powers he signed up to be a suit. He needed money and someone to help him learn how to use his powers. With his abilities and music background he had a high marketability, and quickly made enough to surprise his mother with a brand new house.
