Nathan Godfrey was the definition of a family man. He was a proud son, brother, husband and now a father. After his daughter was at least 5 he spent more time with his brother's family. He wanted her and his nephew to be like brother and sister. So they spent lots of time together as a family taking trips, and his nephew constantly challenged him with video games. He loved them deeply, and it's this love that drove him to join the FBI's counter terrorism unit.
He wanted to protect them from all threats foreign and domestic, and he watched for every angle danger could come from. Nathan had become an excellent fighter thanks to the FBI's training, even taking further training outside of the bureau to become better. But this wasn't his focus, he worked in data analytics, deciphering chatter, analyzing movements and weapons sales. He became the head of his field, often stepping into the mind of the terrorists and cutting off their plans. But he saw many strings being pulled that his bosses didn't, and brushed off his more extravagant warnings.
Before attending a yearly celebration, he met with his nephew for their weekly challenge. His nephew had gotten become a Q.A tester for his friends first game. Nathan didn't understand how that was an attractive job, until his nephew explained the similarities between their roles. They both checked for flaws, and fixed them, because if they didn't catch them, both of their worlds would break. He never looked at it that way and kept the conversation in the back of his mind. He was late for the celebration, and on the way it was attacked. His brothers entire family was killed, his daughter and his mother as well. He went numb and worked on the case, he realized this was one of the attacks he predicted would happen. The ones his superiors didn't want to hear, he was furious and broken at their callous disregard.
He decided to force them to address all the flaws in their system, with first hand experience. He began analyzing different countries responses to attacks to make them improve their defenses.
