Personal history
Denny grew up in a reservation in South Dakota, with his father who took care of his sick mother. His father was a janitor, who had planned to go to college before his girlfriend got pregnant. He also planned to find a career outside of the reservation before his wife got sick. So Denny grew up mostly reading leftover textbooks that his father brought home to pass the time. When he was 7 he astounded his teacher by performing science meant for A.P. high school science classes. By the time he was 14 he was graduating college and for his thesis, he cured his mother.
After he graduated he was hired by a cutting edge lab, created by a man many considered a genius. Jensen Panabaker founded Senbaker Labs as his own way to change the world and he did. They are lauded for creating various medicines and vaccines and beneficial pills to aid physical and mental abilties. So Denny found a perfect match for him, and quickly became one of the leading scientists in the company.
Around the time he turned 17 Denny felt a shift in the company. He was once highly valued by Jensen but had now seemed shoved aside. But at this point it was par for the course, Jensen had been publicly taking credit for Denny's creations for some time now. Now it seemed even people at the company were believing the lie. But he pressed on, as long as he was able to work on his own projects he didn't care. Until one night before going to some big celebration, Jensen tells Denny to finish working on of his projects that needs FDA approval by the next day. Denny refused citing the delicate nature and precedence of his own work. Jensen forced him to do it if he wanted to keep his job, and his work.
Denny angrily forced himself to work on Jensen's project. Some kind of a viral compound that uses heat to kill viruses. Jensen conveniently seemed to leave out how volatile the compound was, and as Denny began the normal procedures, it exploded. Covering him in the substance and setting him ablaze, causing him to burn so hot smoke covered the entire floor and he vanished.
The compound somehow bonded to Denny, allowing him to reconstitute himself months later. Now with new abilities, but not after finding his name being tarnished for stealing Jensen's work and performing illegal experiments which resulted in his death. His father suffered a stroke from the stress and couldn't move half of his body. Leaving his mother who'd been out of the workforce for years struggle to keep afloat. She had a mental breakdown and was put into a home were she was mistreated. Denny didn't care much for his reputation or his work. He was smart enough to replace both, but his parents were another story and he was going to revenge for them.
