Isaphiel

Sir Isaphiel of Alphins (a.k.a. Izzy)

Known by many names, Isaphiel is the name upon which the hero has always introduced himself, never quite taken with the idea of aliases and secret identities. For some reason, however, not all recognize their form as he walk downtown looking for a new food stand to experiment and new places to visit.   While not a covert person, he is private and has rarely answered questions or accepted interviews. The only exception to their calm and distant response to strangers is how he easily smiles and interacts with the inocent and the genuine. It's rare to see him stop at the reporter's continuous badgering, but quite common to watch the tall well-dressed figure stopping to accompany an older citizen on a walk or listening to a kid's enthusiastic rants.

Appearance

Well trained and concerned for his physical health, Isaphiel's tall figure has enough bulk to cause a small group of adoring fans to fawn over. While his uniform is more purpose-oriented than form fitting, as has become the norm since the 80s, the firm muscles and broad back are accentuated by the modern armor.   Kept from magazines and photoshots, as much as Hamut's PR team protested, Isaphiel subtle smile and soft short hair has been basis for more than a few commentaries of his "dreamy form". Despite the slow fame surrouding his looks, the hero remains either naïvely oblivious or intentionally ignorant.   Only a few close friends and colleague, however, are aware of the scars their quick healing never managed to erradicate. Most of which are located on his back, specially around their shoulders, the soreness and pain he experiences from the marks has been a silent burden he rarely shares.

Powers

Throughout the years, Isaphiel has shown a great deal of powers and aptitudes, and those have been registred and published in newspaper, books, discussed on radio and on the Extranet. Most notorious of their powers is the aging, or lack thereof, as well as expediated healing to suggest immortality.   His long life has awarded a great deal of knowledge and trained aptitudes, such as an extensive catalogue of proficient languages, knowledge of mathematics, history and literature - as well as their least liked subjects such as biology, physics and economics. His training has awarded him the title of master in a series of martial arts, making him one of the best known fighters in the world, a skill enriched by their superstrength, agility and stamina.

Speculated Powers

Some non cofirmed powers include: flight, elemental manipulation, shapeshifting, teleportation, zoolinguism and telepathic sense.

Relationships

For the last two-hundred years, all records indicate that Isaphiel has never taken a lover or a life-partner. In fact, their stoic exterior leads to suggestions that even friendship is not something he partakes in, and that is not so far from the truth.   In general, he is not one to make friendships or persue relationships - platonic or otherwise. The main reason is his own longevity, and his difficulty to part with the dying, feeling each loss more deeply. It is also one of the reasons they periodically disappear from heroing.   Even so, their kind and generous aptitude, unattached to the material or bending to societal opinions has made him a dear friend to many supers and outcasts. One such was the Marquis Edward Leopold of Alphins, that adopted the traveller in 1711 as an elder child, and gifted him a sum of his wealth and the title of General of Alphis, one of the many honors Isaphiel would be awarded in their life.   Self-proclaimed protector of the Leopolds, Isaphiel has remained a close confidant to the remaining heirs of his past friend and has taken on more than one mission on the sole purpose of preserving the bloodline. Some even speculate that Isaphiel's role on the Second World Campaign, and by extension the HOARD, was instigated by a mission to rescue Lieutenant Acosta, a descendant of Edward Leopold's only daughter.

Enemies

Not one for confrontation, despite his combat skills, Isaphiel prefers to take rescue and retrieval missions and leave the crime fighting for government afilliated groups. Which should exempt them from being named nemesis by the occasional villain, and somehow it doesn't. More than one terrorist group and villain have named him their enemy, stating the few if existing interactions as the root of their distaste.   During the 1960s, the Emberly Government exiled Isaphiel and named him an enemy of the state. The declaration was made shortly after Alexander Hamut, then leader of the Hamut group and financeer of the HOARD, was arrested on charges of treason and espionage. Isaphiel remained under the radar of the government and an enemy of state until 1974 when the administration pardoned him and released his seized assets.
It's through experiencing it all, that I know I am alive. And must I say? I love being alive.
