Double January: Day 19 - Clock

(See Author's Note: Double January for more information)

January 19th - Take 1

Still messing around with the teleporter because I was operating under the delusion that I could make a working portable personal teleporter even though no one else had yet at that point. And that I could do it in a week or so.   This particular attempt was probably where I started to go wrong. The device kept emitting a field that messed with the mechanics of the clock on the wall, turning it back about seven minutes. Other than that, it also toasted my test subject quite nicely. Which is why we use sandwiches to test things and not people.

January 19th - Take 2

I ate the sandwiches. What else was I supposed to do? Other me only had so much room, and it would have gone to waste. And I won't lie, it was very entertaining to watch myself fail at my nearly impossible task. What had I been thinking?   I did keep careful note of the clock as well, and sure enough, it turned out that I had cause minor temporal field displacement. Brief time travel, in other words. The most interesting part was how the time seemed to snap back in place. To explain, me-then time traveled seven minutes, but then after about three minutes it would slow time so that everything shifted back into the proper order of things.   Absolutely fascinating. If only I hadn't sworn off time travel, the study would have been fascinating.
