January 12th - Take 1
I don't tend to make much use of my near-telepathic abilities. I find them unwieldy and disorienting, since I don't get the person's whole mind but a random collection of memories in almost perfect detail. Until I can shove them aside, I probably remember it better than the person did.
While I've since gained a better control over it and can at least limit the time period from which those memories are drawn, at that point I was scrambling. I was almost at the point of no return for my plan, and still had no real details on the interior layout and where I might find the things I was looking for. So I took it.
I'd already observed the scientists for quite a while, so it was a simple enough task to follow them to lunch and then harvest their memories with a simple touch. And I only had to do it twelve times before I actually got a clear picture of the lab.
January 12th - Take 2
At this point, it is important to acknowledge that I did realize that there were a lot of labs out of there that would have been much easier to steal from. Case in point: in order to get the supplies I needed to remain under the radar as someone who had time traveled, I went to a series of local pharmacies and drug labs and robbed them. It was quite easy and they only noticed I was even there for two of them.
After a certain point, it's the principle of the thing. Also I had to throw off the SIVIC agents that had started paying an interest due to the unusually high level of activity in the area. I spent some of the time harvesting tomatoes in a local greenhouse just to avoid suspicion.
