Gwhaalu Protectorate

The GWHAALU PROTECTORATE originates from the collapse of the old New Garden Empire, a christo-fascist group that assumed control of Earth and several extant planets.

However, much like the Roman regime they idolized, a series of small cuts amounted to total collapse. Of the two factions originating directly from its collapse, the Gwhaalu Protectorate most closely imitates the fallen regime in style, consisting of a series of Protector planets and outlying Attache Planets. However, the difference is no longer one of citizenry versus outsider existence. instead, those from Protector worlds dedicate themselves to defending the Attache worlds and all citizens within.

The Attache worlds, then, handle merchant business and other affairs to a larger degree than the Protector planets do. The GWP has no religion, and faith has been banned from open practice on many worlds, particularly those who suffered most cruelly under the old regime. The Protectorate has enemies due to its martial culture and unregulated excesses among the general population as well as their refusal of Faith practice. However, their Tithing process ensures they never have a shortage of soldiers

Tithed individuals are selected from planets and taken to specific "node" worlds, where they are raised in bunkers in isolation, kept close to one another, and made to form powerful interpersonal bonds. These Tithed fighters will then readily die for their bunker-companions; full nexus-cities of tunnels and bunkers are formed on these "node" worlds, with easily accessible transport to the surface in the event of invasion, and regular flying drills to ensure that recruits are ready to do their job.

Nobody from the Protectorate's general population knows what it means to be Tithed -- they only know that they give up flesh and blood relatives to better serve the good of the Protectorate as a whole.
