Desert Yuan-Ti

The cobra-like yuan-ti of the desert are a scattered and fragmented race, clinging to mere scraps of their former power. This does not make them any less dangerous, however, as they still seek to destabilise surrounding civilisations and seize control by any means possible. This includes infiltrating agents who can more readily pass for human, as well as buying the services of human traitors using Yuan-Ti Trade Coins.
Centuries ago a powerful civilisation descended from the Raurin Empire controlled a large section of the region. At their height, a serpent-worshipping cult grew to prominence and worked to seize power. They began to change themselves into cobra forms, and aggressively dominate surrounding nations. Before they could consolidate their grasp, a schism developed. A large group of the people chose to leave the dry desert lands for the jungles to the north, leaving only a fraction of their people behind .
