Changeling

Changeling, also called "Wechselbälgr" in Steinntung Dwarven or referred to by the term hag-spawn, witch-spawn or rarely "Nevernost", a term normally mostly applied to those with ancestry from other Realms like the Infernal ancestry of the Thirteen-point-one-two-seven-nine Hells, are the offspring of Witches (also called hags) which are almost always sired by members of other species and born looking like their sires to be raised among their kind.

As changelings aren't easily distinguished from the parent species of their sire there are a number of so called "witch-hunches" by which a newborn Changeling can supposedly be told apart from its truly-elven peers, the most well known of these is that changelings are said to be born with sharper canines than most drau.

Its commonly believed that Witches seek out mates, bear a Changeling child and have it be raised by the sire's community as a way of propagating their own species and that changelings invariably grow up to be very attractive to members of their "ordinary" parentage and as such distrust towards suspected offspring of Witches is great.

Often a mere magickal aptitude and some strange behavior is enough for a child to be targeted which such accusations.

Additionally it is believed that a changeling that reaches its peak potential after reaching maturity will transform into a full-blooded hag.
