The Madam's Compound

Located at the peak of Respite's Northern Quarter, this sprawling, multi-building compound encompasses a huge tract of land. Surrounded on all sides by steep pitched walls and protected by layers of security, this compound is the beating heart of the Madam's sprawling trade and consumer goods network.

Purpose / Function

Built to facilitate efficiency in all things, this compound houses the four columns of the Madam's business: sea trade, land trade, expeditions, and fashion. Though undeniably meant to impress socialites, the compound's sprawling structure and network of underground tunnels make it more akin to a fortress than a mansion.

Architecture

Built in the traditional high elven style, this place oozes refinement and wealth from every pore. Fine crystal chandeliers hang over the main hall, and the stairs are trimmed in soothesilk that whisks away moisture at a touch. In some of the smaller spaces, strange orbs of glass and metal provide a steady blue light.

Tourism

Though not open to most, members of the upper crust of Respite frequent this compound on a tendaily basis, strutting around and generally hoping for an audience with the mysterious Madam herself. As it happens, nobody can remember the last time the Madam accepted such a meeting, though that seems only to embolden the constant stream of curious onlookers.
