Madam

This shadowy figure leads the largest trading organization in Respite, a network stretching across the seas and into the wilds. Though she never leaves her compound in the Northern Quarter of the city, the Madam always seems to know what is happening in and out of town.

The only thing most know is that the Madam is a high elf, but all else about her remains a mystery. Rumors run wild about her, claiming she is anything from a banshee to a deathless lich, rumors the Madam seems content to allow to flourish.

Soon after the city was established, the Madam began sending exploratory expeditions out into the wilds to recover relics of the past. Though few of these expeditions ever return, those that do gain a great deal of status and even fame, even as the Madam takes most of the wealth they recover as payment.
