Temple District
One of the oldest places in Respite, this collection of temples has stood since the founding of the city. Located near the coast amidst the oldest, layered parts of the Eastern Quarter, one can find a temple to any of the Gods except one: The Amalgam.
Temples
- Court of the Penitent (The Judge) - This monolithic structure is one of very few places in Respite built of stone, and reflects the heavy-handed and absolute authority of The Judge. Blindfolded penitents stand eternal watch outside, their palms outstretched in judgement of those who walk past. Inside, you can find the great silver scales, a relic of the old world: place your request of the weighted lord on the scales and be judged, ye of faith.
- House of the Veiled (The Horizon) - Overlooking the sea as it stretches to the edge of vision, this hemispherical wooden temple pays homage to the master of passage and traveler's patron: The Horizon. Adherents wearing the traditional outfits of such priesthood cast a striking figure with their half white, half black outfits complete with a split colored veil covering the face.
- Home to the Weary (The Wellspring) - Simple and direct, like much The Wellspring teaches, this wooden temple offers housing and protection to any who need it. The simple brown robes of a Wellspring priest denote comfort to the dying and hope to the living alike.
- Den of Wax and Shackles (The Maledict) - Most ignore this windowless, oppressive building. Inside lurks the single remaining priest of The Maledict, anathema to life and keeper of bargains. The truly desperate will sometimes seek solutions via bargaining their only remaining worthwhile possession: their eternal soul.
