Strathnora

Year 44 of the Age of Gears

Scope

The motivation behind building Strathnora

To create a world for me and my friends to adventure in while playing TTRPGs.

The goal of the project

I am hoping to get a world that will give us hours of fun, growing and changing with us as we play in it.

Strathnora's Unique Selling point

It will be created by all my friends and the people who play in it as much as by me.

Theme

Genre

High Fantasy.   High levels of magic, though technology is starting to become more prevalent as well. It is a world on the verge of a Technological breakthrough, though whether that happens will depend on the players as much as the world's creator(s).

Reader Experience

Mystical, Intriguing, fun to explore. At first, it will be very generic, but that should change as more people get to play in it, and so change it.

Reader Tone

Somewhat realistic, but swaying from dark to light.

Recurring Themes

Creation, Change, Advancement.

Character Agency

Players are meant to be able to affect the world in a variety of ways, from helping the people of a village, to changing the very geography of a continent. The world will grow and change as it is played in.

Focus

Technological Advance.
Change.
Chaos and Order as opposing forces.

Drama

The shift in power Technology brings to the world.   Nobles are powerful because of magic, but Technology gives power to anyone.
The conflict between Civilization and Nature.   As cities grow, they risk encroaching on places of powerful Natural Magic. What effects will this have on the world?
Clashes between the differing forms of magic and society.   Arcane is most commonly wielded by the Nobility. Divine is most commonly wielded by only sanctioned members of the Clergy. Occult is seen as dangerous and not to be trusted/devil magic. Primal is seen as Elf magic/hippy magic.
