Morgan Desmaraut

A vice-commander of Steel Sky's fifth Brigade, Morgan "Peacemaker" Desmaraut is infamous for being even more brutal than his average coworker. He does this by taking Steel Sky's zero tolerance to an extreme not many do, where even a single angry word or gesture is already treated as a threat. This means he often kills civilians and surrendered soldiers in cold blood, with his closest troops gladly joining in.
Desmaraut joined Steel Sky at the age of 16, quickly climbing the ranks due to his blind loyalty and excellent results. Said results were caused by a complete lack of mercy and acts that prove overkill does, in fact, exist. By the age of 23 he had earned the nickname Peacemaker, as his deployment was an excellent way to guarantee peace through violence and intimidation.
In 2810 Desmaraut was deployed to guard dark matter mining around Musca System 232. When he encountered a pirate ship in the middle of robbing a dark matter freighter, the pirates immediately abandoned the freighter and even dumped whatever cargo they had already brought on board. Despite this, Desmaraut set chase, disabled their engines, then captured the pirates.
Afterwards, he proceeded to publicly execute them, then hung corpses on the outer walls of every bar in the area. When some locals and other pirates spoke out against this severe response, he ordered all of them captured and executed in turn. While nobody spoke up after that, grumbling voices in the shadows turned to discussing ways of dealing with Desmaraut.
Having caught some of this chatter with sensors, Desmaraut decided that since some pirates may come after him in retaliation, he should just kill them all. His superiors called him off, stating that there was no profit in unprovoked pirate hunts. They did enjoy that Desmaraut's acts ended all piracy in the area, but felt a war on all pirates was too tough a sell.
Their intervention did come too late. Knowing that Desmaraut will keep on killing, some Dire Wolves have teamed up and are preparing a way of dealing with him. Even other mercenary corps have covertly investigated ways to support these efforts. Currently it seems the pirates have decided the only way of dealing with Desmaraut, is by going after his entire division. In other words, Steel Sky may very well receive the war they did not want to fight.
