Sleipnir Class Patroller

Sleipnir Art.png
The Sleipnir is an older 300 dT vessel that once formed the backbone of system patrol fleets of more minor worlds and even now can be found in service. However, hulls are starting to appear on the surplus market and a canny buyer might be able to pick up a very well-used ship (with all its foibles) for a reasonable price, with its core functionality intact, though these vessels often come with extensive service histories and the quirks that come with decades of operation. With Jump-2 and Thrust-3, the Sleipnir is capable of extended patrols beyond a single system, though it lacks the speed of modern military craft. Its armament consists of two fixed missile racks mounted along the hull for long-range strikes and a single double turret. While no match for dedicated warships, its firepower is more than sufficient to handle pirate raiders, smugglers, and small strike craft. Some say that, in the right hands and with a few careful modifications, these ships can be turned into deadly ambush corvettes lurking unseen in the void, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
