Lancer Mobile Platforms

Lancer Mobile Platforms are the weapon type names to multipurpose combat mechs used since the first wave. Lancers usually are legged tanks on land in high gravity environment capable of easily fighting on all terrain, while capable of space flight using Gravity Engines. Many styles of Lancer exist from old mobile tanks with weapon systems built in to more advanced humanoid models to a scavenged mixture.

Utility

Lancer Platforms are famous for being able to fight both as offensive fighter/bomber units in space, excellent point defense to large vessels, or as effective armored calvary planeside. Most importantly, the Lancer Platforms are those which are designed to do all of the above in the same conflict. Versatility against evolving threats.

Access & Availability

Lancer's were mass produced in incredible number during the The First Wave The Second Wave and the Belt War. Many old models have been scrapped and rebuilt by private owners.

Discovery

Lancer platforms were developed during the early days of The First Wave to deal with the Xenophage ships entering the system. The idea was to create one weapon system which could fight both on land, in the air, and in space, adapting to the needs of all three and rapidly responding to the way battles with the xenophage often evolved from one to the other.
