An avid Anthropologist and Biomechanical genius, Kohaku could be considered a caretaker for all space-faring life; offering alchemical solutions to travel induced pains, keeping the hydroponics functioning and offering counsel to battle weary minds.
While possessed by a strange melange of aquatic traits, Kohaku claims they’re an Elevated Human under it all. Once from below the ocean surface of Venus and now here amongst the stars and space, they strive to help the crew, and specifically the captain, with anything they know how to do, applying their trademark sunshine can-do attitude.

Physical Description
Identifying Characteristics
Pushing the boundaries of what most would consider still Human, Kohaku’s main physical features are their heavily modified genetic code; their skin, while still soft to the touch, is covered in light and slightly reflective placoid scales. Their head crest is made of similar bone-like material, while having the aesthetic of tentacles, are not tentacles; Kohaku can rearrange them with some effort but this is more their skill at bioengineering at work. Their tail is similar to that of aquatic life, with a more limited range of movement than mammalian tails, although it does wag when they’re happy.
Otherwise they stand at 5ft 10, with the same configuration of limbs one could expect of an Elevated Human, tail aside.

Special abilities
Currently, Kohaku claims that their odd physical appearance offers them no real advantages over other Elevated Humans; although they can climb on almost any surface without effort and has developed venom glands, which is unusual and arguably useful.
As someone with Biomechanic training, Kohaku’s body is a medium for them to perform advanced combat techniques. The pits under their jaw can read heat signatures, they can translate body language and pheromone signals to essentially ‘speak’ to sub-sentients and their skill at altering genetics has led to an incredible advancement in their goals to provide long-term solutions to the pains of life.

Kohaku was found in the wreckage of a ship flagged for a search and retrieve mission, still caring for the plants in Hydroponics. The ship’s logs labeled them as a part of the crew, with the rest lost to the barren wilds; Kohaku claims the rest decided to leave the wreck and seek civilization, Kohaku did not want to abandon their garden so remained.
Since then Kohaku was taken aboard and has since made every effort to be useful; whenever Fortuna needs that extra edge in almost any situation, Kohaku is the first to answer the call.
