Mosa Character in Stelair | World Anvil

Mosa

Queen of Words, Mistress of Trade, Divine Drafter, Friend of Mortals, Holy Interceder

Mosa is charming and calculating. While most think of her as deceitful and untrustworthy, her nature is far from that. She reaches out to help those in need and to fix problems that arise because of circumstance. Though she does not do this for free. Everything has a cost, whether specifically stated or implied. The favors and intercedents she grants to mortals are fall into the latter category. Using them in order to help someone elses prayers and so continuing the cycle. While not unreasonable, Mosa can be quite vindictive when someone refuses to honor the call for aid. Taking time to make their lives much worse for it. She is quite fascinated with mortals and their lives and acts in the mortal realm more often than even Garto. It is because of this rumors often swell about the goddess often taking a mortal form and wandering across Stelair.

Followers & Avatars

Holy Criers

This order of clerics have devoted their lives to Mosa. Most of the time because of an intervention made for them or someone they know. None of the order joined because of Mosa's asking, joining completely of their free will. They travel far and wide speaking the wisdom of their goddess and, honestly, doing their best to sell her blessings and aid to as many people as they can find. Offering prayer beds & totems, preaching the words, and even selflessly helping others in the communities they stop in. Their purpose is motivated by praising Mosa and showing others her greatness. Rarely ever seeking personal benefit unless it can be made to spread their message.

Contractors

These individuals have been called upon by Mosa to punish those who back out of their deals. Usually reserved for those who break promises or deals with the goddess herself, they have been known to go after other deal breakers if they catch the eye of Mosa. These people are always either those who own for a favor or have been contracted in after their punishment. When confirmed as a Contractor they are divinely given a harlequin mask with red lips and eyeliner, a Belt of Hidden Tools, and a stiletto dagger marked with Mosa's holy symbol. Working in secret the Contractors work on disrupting business deals, cause work to be hard to come by, scandals to come to light or materialize, and ruin relationships. Death or physical harm is almost never a tool in used by them, but it is one available. After deemed sufficiently punished or the offender pleads for forgiveness, the Contractor/s will approach the offender and offer them their Contractors tools. To accept and to wait until they themselves are sent after an offender.

Arobros

A large red hawk with wing tips lined with white feathers. An encouraging sign for all as its appearance is an indication of good luck and fortune. If spotted commerce in the area usually kicks up for months in the area.

Su-Lanric

A Spell Weaver who wears golden robes and an innumerable amount of red gemmed rings. This avatar of Mosa's always seems to show up after a gamble ends in death. Supposable she offers 2nd chances, giving a new lease on life. Though the asks is rumored to be quite hefty. Though no one really knows what that price is.

The Suitor

More legend than reality. The Suitor is supposable a finely dressed man/woman who enraptures someone in a swirl of romance and fantastical deeds until leaving at the last moment of sometimes days of courting. Right after which the courted person finds themselves meeting their inevitable spouse. The only evidence left of the Suitor being 2 ruby rings. This creature, person, servant, or whatever is thought to be associated with Mosa but no one knows why. Or why the stories only persist in the @River Kingdoms

Basohs

An incredible long crimson serpent. A creature who has been known to travel the waters of the world, connecting people with people. Not brokering deals or sealing contracts, simply introducing people to people that might benefit each other.

Tenets of Faith

  • A promise can be broken and words forgotten, but a contract is always enforced
  • Never make an agreement you can't keep
  • Only the foolish don't read the fine print
  • Making a profit is nothing to be ashamed of, it is how you make it that matters
  • A good trade is one that pays itself back not now, but when you need it to
  • Broken agreements only hurt the betrayer
  • A friend made in trust holds more weight than a friend made in business
  • Being outwardly smart can be as harmful as being inwardly stupid
  • A favor received is a debt held, but a favor given could be an ally made
  • A rising tide raises all boats, but a dying cow brings more predators
  • Life is the universal contract of mortals and death is its fulfillment
